Unprofessional leadership and a culture of disrespect

Pros

Some coworkers genuinely try their best and care about doing good work with very low pay, Pay is insufficient for SF life. Beautiful office, but employees are literally starving. Free lunch on Wednesdays, but the compensation is so low that employees act like they’re in a survival movie every Wednesday. People start hoarding food and labeling "seconds" before others have even had their first plate. It’s embarrassing to watch. If you pay people enough to live in SF, they won’t need to "steal" extra sandwiches for dinner.

Cons

Being in this environment made me doubt myself constantly for over 2 years. After leaving, I realized it was not a personal failure, this is not what a healthy company looks like. Not every workplace operates this way. The company was rapidly losing its values. Employee ideas and creativity do not matter, and feedback was not genuinely heard. Coworkers widely feel untrusted, uncertain, and burned out. There is no real sense of culture, no laughter, no energy, no psychological safety. The office environment feels heavy and joyless, which only accelerates disengagement. Leadership lacks accountability. The CEO frequently criticizes others’ schedules and time management in a passive-aggressive way, while positioning himself as the ultimate authority on priorities. When work does not meet expectations, responsibility is shifted onto employees, even when leadership-created blockers are the root cause. Concerns are dismissed with “I don’t have time,” yet unnecessary people are added to unrelated meetings, wasting everyone’s time. There is little respect for boundaries. Priorities are imposed top-down without context, and employees are judged rather than supported. Over time, this creates an environment where morale drops, trust erodes, and people stop speaking up because they know it will not make a difference.

Pros

- Sadly, pros mostly outweighed by cons - coworkers are nice people

Cons

This is not a place to grow a career. It is a place where people burn out, disengage, and leave quickly. Accountability is almost nonexistent, and employees are treated differently based on favoritism rather than performance, effort, or results (you can sell more in 1 month what another rep did in 2 quarters, and get PIP'd). Leadership starts and ends with the CEO, who's extremely pushy and ego drives decision-making more than data, feedback, or employee outcomes. There is little interest in employee development, success, or retention. Turnover is treated as normal instead of a serious red flag. Every month seems like a new collective of new hires, which says everything about morale and leadership effectiveness. The company consistently over-promises and under-delivers both to customers and internally to new hires. From day one there is blatant dishonesty, the role is not what’s sold during the interview process. Resources are limited, expectations are unrealistic, and support is minimal. Burnout is widespread and openly acknowledged by employees, yet never meaningfully addressed by management. Limited accounts and opportunities are distributed based on favoritism, making success impossible for many regardless of how hard they work. If you value your time, mental health, or long-term career trajectory, you are better off applying elsewhere. This company is on a path to continue losing talent and credibility.

Pros

I joined the company last March, and I can confidently say that my expectations for a new role have been met. Workstream has an excellent company culture built on respect, collaboration, and teamwork. It’s refreshing to see the CEO actively communicating with employees, which makes the environment more engaging and transparent. The work-from-home setup truly supports work-life balance, with encouragement instead of pressure. Compensation and benefits are competitive and fair. They also just gave us a performance bonus, which really makes you feel valued. My department has been very supportive, my manager and teammates provided thorough guidance during training, and it’s easy to approach anyone with questions. I also appreciate the focus on growth and continuous learning. Feedback is always welcomed and constructive, creating an environment where you feel supported to improve and thrive both personally and professionally.

Cons

Not really a con, but since the company is growing, some processes are still evolving. This means there can be occasional adjustments and changes. These are generally positive and aimed at improving workflows, but it does require being adaptable and proactive.
