Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Corizon Health. I’m sorry you felt that you were working with petty staff. Sometimes we have to deal with a variety of individuals both in and out of the work place. I hope you escalated your concerns to site management. While we no longer staff that facility, hopefully, you have found somewhere that you can truly enjoy showing up to, day to day. Sincerely, Heather Dale Employee Relations Specialist

Pros

Co-workers, Pay, The amount of stairs you go up and down each day will save you from spending money on a stair climber....

Cons

Understaffing, Extremely large med pass= 1 nurse pours and passes meds to one wing = potentially 384 inmates if the wing is double bunked if understaffed which usually happens add 192 for the share of the wing you are required to pick up. Add in insulins, pt/inr's, you have to stop med pass to respond to ICS's. Med pours take approximately four hours, med passes depend on if you can find DOC staff to walk with you, the inmates are where they are supposed to be etc...2-3 hours....and then you go back clean up and start for the next med pass....you also need to order medications from pharmacy...restock....enter physician orders....respond to inmates health needs request forms....chart.....pour your afternoon meds....pass your afternoon meds....take your mandatory break somewhere in all that free time....charting is confusing as they use both emar and paper mar dangerous situation..

We have a couple of facilities in Florence, so without knowing which location you work in, I can’t verify staffing levels with 100% accuracy. That said, we recently decided to do rate adjustments at several of the Arizona facilities to ensure we are able to not only recruit, but also retain essential nursing staff. The environment can be demanding but we also want staff to find it rewarding, beyond just a pay rate. The facilities in Arizona are large and very spread out, so I don’t doubt you’re getting your steps in! In terms of staffing levels, we base our staffing plans on 30+ years in the industry covering 400 locations. We have facilities with well over 100 employees, and other sites with less than 10. Since we operate on government contracts, in order for us to deviate from the agreed upon staffing levels, we’d have to go to the DOC and ask for an amendment to our contract, to be able to hire more nurses. That’s not to say that doesn’t happen. We added several new provider positions within the last year, for the state of Arizona. Talk to your FHA and let them know if you have legitimate concerns about staffing. If you don’t feel like your concerns are being addressed, use your chain of command and talk with your Director of Operations. If you feel more comfortable, you can always call the compliance line anonymously. Hopefully things become more manageable. Sincerely, Courtney Penning, Director of Talent Acquisition

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Corizon Health. Our company has a Time & Attendance Policy which in part states that management can require a release to return to work depending on the circumstance. Without knowing the specifics, I cannot speak in detail. We do this in part to ensure the safety of our employees to know his/her doctor has released them to work as well as for the patients to ensure those providing their care are fully enabled to work. I am sorry to hear that you don’t feel your management team interacted much with you. We do provide various trainings to our management teams in person, via WebEx and online training. Sincerely, Heather Dale, Employee Relations Specialist
