Pros

Good entry to working with electronics Very diverse in westchester. Mix of Black, White, Spanish, LGBT employees Lots of opportunities to move up due to high turnover combined with the person above you not knowing their job either.

Cons

Heavy sales culture in a repair business High turnover now that Asurion has taken over- out of 10+ new hires in the district I worked at that started after July 2021, only 3 made it to the year mark. The ones who are still there , hate it Highly disorganized, its obvious Asurion bought the Franchise to push Home+ and they have no clue how to run this business for what the public finds value in. Meetings everyday for people to tell the same stories of how they borderline harassed a customer into buying Home+

Pros

Learned a lot, on the job since training wasn't a real thing

Cons

Didn't get to keep my certifications with industry bodies when I left. The pay was not great considering how much responsibility I had and how expensive the jobs were - customers or their insurance were paying a thousand dollars for many repair jobs and as a technician I was working on that job and three others at the same time for just $11. Considering how little equipment is involved, it seems like UBIF makes a huge profit with very few costs. Compared to an auto mechanic shop's equipment requirements, electricity usage, and the pay of auto mechanics, it is sort of outrageous. Lastly, UBIF is restructuring away from repairwork to just sell service plans (which are not legally warranties or insurance, because they don't do much for the customer), which means they are chasing out technicians and replacing them with salesmen who will make better pay with less skilled training. This business transition is going to hurt in the long run as customers won't have a reason to go to UBIF if UBIF isn't fixing phones and tablets anymore.
