This day, part of Police Week, is a reminder of what is at stake for these dedicated officers and is a day to honor those that have given the ultimate sacrifice during the line of duty, about 163 die each year. Today, April 9th, is National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed April 9th as the recognition day for all Prisoners of War. The reported number of services members that have been prisoners during wartime, since the time of the Revolutionary War, is an incredible number - over half a million! April 9th is a significant date as it is the date in 1942 that the largest number of US Armed Forces were ever captured at one time. In the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines, the Japanese troops took control of the soldiers and marched them 65 miles to the camp, deep in the unfamiliar jungle. The soldiers did not receive medical services, food, or water. Thousands died from the journey and more throughout the next two years. Take the time to acknowledge and honor those that have died and survived their oftentimes brutal captivity while protecting our country.

COVID-19 UPDATE - The Buchheit Logistics team continues rolling and moving the freight. We have no plans to cease operations. All Buchheit team members across all divisions of the company are working to keep distance between each other as a precautionary measure. We are keeping in touch with all shippers and receivers and monitoring official channels as this continues to unfold. We will continue to update our procedures as the situation develops. Congratulations to Dewey Mullins! Dewey was recognized at theMissouri Truckers Association Annual Safety Conference at Camden on the Lake for his February 2019 MOTA Driver of the Month Award. Dewy is a valued team member at Buchheit Logistics with his continuous safe driver awards from 1995-2010. He has also been in the MOTA Safe Driving Club since 2017. Thank you so much, Dewey, for all you do to keep the roads safe and for being a part of our family!
