Drivers ---- Department of Transportation recent clarification on safety-sensitive employees who are subject to drug testing and drug and alcohol compliance: DOT requires testing for marijuana not CBD, Cannabidiol. However, please note, that CBD products with a concentration of 0.3%+ are classified as marijuana, a Schedule 1 drug, under the Controlled Subtance Act. Because the FDA does not currently oversee labels of THC, the primary psychoactive component of marijuana, in CBD products, consumers should be wary in purchasing and using any CBD products. Our takeaway -- if you are in a safety sensitive position you should be extremely careful in choosing to use CBD products as your future in a safety-sensitive position could be jeopoardized. CBD uses is not considered a legitimate medical explanation for a lab-confirmed marijuana positive result on a DOT drug test.

Interesting information provided by PeopleNet regarding truck Engine Sync Compliance issues. The ELD Mandate requires the ELD and the ECM to communicate within a 5 second or less interval to remain compliant - truck ECMs are not built to operate at that interval and usually communicate every 6-8 seconds causing the compliance malfunction. PeopleNet, along with other ELD providers, jointly petitioned the federal government on 7-29-2019 to loosen the mandate requirements to 10 seconds which would resolve most Engine Sync Compliance issues. Though this does not resolve the current situation, it does at least explain the why. #compliance #requirements #eld
