As students and teachers head back to school, things look quite different this year. But whether they’re returning to remote learning environments or even adapted classrooms and schedules, Sharecare YOU is enabling immersive, 3D learning experiences that make health and science education effective and fun, no matter where their education journey is happening. For the first time, this award-winning tool – first launched in VR format – is now available for desktop, making this evidence-supported learning tool accessible through more devices and education settings than ever. With features like 360-degree detail, digital drawing and video recording capabilities, as well full user control to simulate functions like organ dissections and disease states, it’s already helping schools like Yale University School of Medicine maximize learning retention, enjoyment and satisfaction among teachers and students alike.
This week marked the release of our next-generation Community Well-Being Index (CWBI), developed in partnership with Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH). As we reveal our 2019 state well-being rankings, this milestone has special significance as it showcases the evolution of 10 years of well-being measurement at Sharecare. Collectively, the multi-dimensional layering and analysis our teams formulated have resulted in the most expansive, diversified, and dynamic well-being index in the industry; and our sample collection methods have enabled visibility into well-being and social determinant risk for communities not previously included in state rankings, ensuring comprehensive coverage for rural and underserved areas. While 2020 has thrown us challenge after challenge - especially when it comes to health - benchmarking where we were prior to the pandemic is important for a variety of reasons, including understanding how building and maximizing resilience may hold the keys to our recovery and protect us against whatever the future may hold.
Together, Sharecare and Publicis Health Media employees are committed to taking steps to create positive changes in their communities around the world. In the latest episode of the Healthcare Weekly podcast, Dr. Jud Brewer, our executive medical director of behavioral health, breaks down the physiological and psychological components of cravings, the roles they play in our habits, and how the ubiquity of the smartphone and personalization enabled by our digital programs can help change our relationships with bad habits. Curious about how our app-based behavioral health programs work? Listen now to hear all of this and more as Dr. Brewer gets down to the basics of neuroscience and ways our smartphones and tools like the Sharecare app can help create healthy behaviors that last.
Along with Publicis Health Media, we asked Sharecare employees how they will commit to helping build a healthier and more unified world. For one, our president of consumer solutions, Laura Klein, is committed to backing charities that champion diversity. Fraud, waste and abuse is a big issue in healthcare. In fact, it?s a whopping $900 billion problem, and is expected to grow exponentially as the COVID-19 pandemic necessitates the fast-tracking of more and more claims. To help our client partners tackle this problem head-on, we?ve acquired WhiteHatAI, whose AI-driven platform can help our payer and provider clients ensure healthcare payment integrity by detecting and preventing erroneous claims before they occur. During such a critical time in healthcare, we couldn't be more proud to welcome the WhiteHatAI team to the Sharecare family! Check out the announcement to learn more about our 16th acquisition.
Now, more than ever, employers must put the safety and well-being of their workforces at the forefront – and it requires much more than just a plan for getting people tested for COVID-19. At Sharecare, we know our ideas and actions – no matter how big or small they may seem – have the power to heal, drive unity, and lead us to a collectively healthier and stronger place – one in which we are united, not divided. In the spirit of pursuing this in solidarity, we joined Publicis Health Media to invite our employees to share ways they’re working to heal their communities and help build a kinder, healthier and more just world for everyone. Here’s what they had to say.
Earlier this month, our founder and CEO, Jeff Arnold, added his name to a letter alongside other state business leaders urging the Georgia General Assembly to pass a hate crimes bill – as our "home state" has been one of only four in the U.S. without such legislation in place. Until now. We join our friends at the Metro Atlanta Chamber and Georgia Chamber of Commerce in applauding the historic bi-partisan collaboration that resulted in the approval of House Bill 426, which was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp on Friday, June, 26, 2020. While our collective work in the pursuit of equality and justice is far from over, we are proud to be part of a community committed to building a better, more prosperous Georgia for all.
As 2020 has brought forth generation-defining challenges, Sharecare will not be silent regarding our commitment to the pursuit of justice and peace for all. We commit to using our products and platforms to serve the disenfranchised and amplify their voices, while we listen, learn, build deeper empathy, and advocate for justice and peace for our communities, our country and our world. Therefore, in parallel with our duty to care for every single person – and as we reflect on recent events and Juneteenth, in particular – we proudly affirm Sharecare’s support for Black Lives Matter and commit to doing our part to break the cycle of systemic racism. As a unified team, we will stand up for equality in our communities both for you and with you. Because, now more than ever, we are better together.
