Today, we're celebrating our very own Holly Doan, RD, LDN, who was named a 2022 Top Woman in Health, Wellness, and Beauty by Drug Store News. The annual awards program honors women for their impact on the healthcare world and for making outstanding contributions to their companies and communities, often going above and beyond the call of duty. Since joining The GIANT Company team in 2013, Holly has played a key role in launching and growing wellness initiatives in the communities the company serves. Recently promoted to manager of wellbeing activations, Holly enthusiastically promotes healthy eating habits and behavior change through a variety of offerings, including virtual nutrition education classes and culinary demonstrations. She has also led the effort to launch a one-of-a-kind shopper marketing wellness package connecting customers with better-for-you brands, helping to grow sales and aid customers in their health journeys. In 2021, Holly and the entire dietitian team hosted more than 450 online classes reaching over 25,000 attendees. Congratulations, Holly!
For today's Meet a Team Member Monday, let's get to know Sophie Diouf, store manager at the Exton, PA, GIANT. She started her career at The GIANT Company in May 2019 as an assistant store manager of fresh at the West Chester, PA, store. From there, she continued to grow through opportunities and was promoted to store manager in 2020. We asked Sophie to describe her current role, and she described it as a way that encompasses our company's purpose. "The role I proudly carry is one of many different hats. The Exton GIANT is made up of many little stores inside. I ensure we work together like a locomotive. All parts must be functioning for the goals to be met. My goal is to grow our business, give back to our communities, provide an inclusive workplace, and ultimately connect families for a better future."

He leads a team focused on the company's financial performance, growth, and trajectory, helping to create a sustainable competitive advantage in today's retail market. Will and his team have helped identify numerous process enhancements and efficiency gains, establishing the group as a trusted resource for business partners across the organization.
As #GlobalDiversityAwarenessMonth comes to a close, we're reflecting on our first-ever DE&I Summit, hosted at our Support Office as part of our GIANT Inclusion Week earlier this month. Guided by the theme, "Engage, Educate, Elevate," company leaders and guest speakers spoke about topics like inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of belonging in our workplaces and the communities we serve, and the importance of representation. Team members also had a chance to learn more about our business resource groups and spent time connecting and sharing ideas. While we're proud of how far we've come, our work to create a more inclusive tomorrow for all continues because talking about change is good, but being about change is how we get there.

For today’s Meet a Team Member Monday, we’re saying hello to Aakash Desai, an omnichannel merchandising analyst based in Carlisle, Pa., and learning a bit more about #Diwali, a holiday that is important to him and his family and Hindus around the globe. Since joining The GIANT Company earlier this year, Aakash has been busy deepening his knowledge of our industry and learning from everyone around him. “Having great peers and leaders has helped me develop a learner’s mindset. It feeds my competitive drive and helps me grow as a young professional. I look forward to building more partnerships within the organization to help drive our business forward and serve the customers that rely on us to gather their families around the table.” Aakash was also kind enough to share how he and his family celebrate Diwali, a five-day festival that marks the Hindu New Year and is full of family, food, and fireworks. “It signifies the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance."

The Impact Awards celebrate those in our industry who improve lives, create opportunities, and positively affect the communities they call home. In the category of community service and local impact, our National Volunteer Month Challenge was recognized. Our team members volunteered more than 6,300 hours of service in one month, nearly matching the hours logged in the prior three months! Our ongoing partnership with Rodale Institute was honored in the sustainability and resource conservation category. With the help of our generous customers, we've donated more than $2 million to support organic farm consulting, farmer training, and research.
