Surrounded by team members, community partners, and local leaders, today we celebrated the opening of our new Doylestown, PA store, a community we've proudly served since 2009. Our new and improved Doylestown store puts families front and center, offering the very best of the GIANT brand along with some exciting new amenities. From the expanded bakery department to a specialty cheese shop, smoked and dry-aged meats, a Starbucks, and Frutta Bowls cafe, we think our neighbors are going to love grocery shopping at our newest GIANT. Check out the video below to see what's new! Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning, Store Manager Al Carcifi said: "Today is the day we've all been waiting for, and our team could not be more excited to share what we've been working on, a store that celebrates families and food, just in time for the holiday season." To Al and our entire Doylestown store team, congratulations on opening day - we wish you many happy years and continued success at your new location!
We wrapped up the week in a big way - celebrating the grand opening of our newest GIANT on Columbus Boulevard in South Philadelphia! From our signature produce, meat, and seafood departments to a full beer and wine offering, a dedicated plant-based section, smoked meats, and GIANT Direct - especially important with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season - this store has it all! Explore the store in the gallery below. It takes courage, passion, and talent to open a new store, and that's especially true when it comes to the store manager. We couldn't think of a better man for the job than our very own Kevin Bane. Speaking at today's ribbon-cutting ceremony, Kevin said what the entire store was feeling: "I'm very excited to be a part of this community, and our team can't wait to welcome everyone to our table." To Kevin and the entire Columbus Boulevard team and the team members across the company who got us to opening day, congratulations! And to our new neighbors, including City Councilman Mark Squilla, thank you for the warm welcome, South Philly!
While making a difference and helping families gather around the table is part of The GIANT Company's purpose year-round, the holidays bring a renewed sense of giving and connecting with those in need throughout our communities. In celebration of #GivingTuesday, we're donating a total of $100,000 to nine organizations to support the important and unique work each is doing in our communities to help eliminate hunger. Earlier today, Communications and Community Impact Specialist Ashley Mahaffey and Store Manager Todd Kinter headed to Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, where funding will support research in sustainable agriculture, helping to provide a considerable amount of fresh donations to local families throughout the year. Our Community Impact Manager Jessica Printy Groves visited Keystone Kidspace in York, Pa. The donation will be used to supply all ingredients needed for programming in its Kitchen Lab for three years. Read up on the other organizations we're supporting here: https://lnkd.in/dRSyUHaG.
It's that time again! Say hello to this week's Meet a Team Member Monday spotlight, Serena Corrigan, brand manager of regional marketing and partnerships. A proud team member for over 10 years, Serena recently shared a little about her journey at The GIANT Company with us. Q. Tell us about your career path. A. I started at The GIANT Company in November of 2010 as the marketing manager. I joined Ahold USA in 2015, and in 2018, I was asked to fill the role of Brand Manager, Regional Marketing and Partnerships, which is what I am today! Q. What’s the best memory you have of working at GIANT? A. Hands down: working through my partner connections to bring Julius “Dr. J” Erving to be a speaker at our Annual Meeting in 2020 and getting to meet him in person!
Please join us in congratulating our Director of Pharmacy Operations Leigh Shirley, Regional Pharmacy Manager Grace Fisher, Regional Dietitian Kilene Knitter, MS, RD, LDN, and Regional Dietitian Joni Rampolla, RDN, CSOWM, LDN, honorees in Drug Store News' 2021 Top Women in Health, Wellness & Beauty Awards! The third annual awards recognize talented female leaders playing an integral role in the #retail #pharmacy, #health, #wellness, and #beauty industries.
We believe that #Thanksgiving should be spent with loved ones gathered around the table, enjoying a meal and creating memories, but we know it's not that easy for families facing food insecurity. That's why our team members have spent November donating more than 10,000 turkeys to 27 partner food banks in four states and contributed 350 hours of service, too. Our annual turkey donation is part of our efforts to eliminate hunger and connect families for a better future. We're proud to team up with our local food banks and food pantries to do our part, ensuring that all families can celebrate with full plates and full hearts.
Congratulations to our Director of Human Resources Caron Sanders and our Director of Meat and Seafood Merchandising Deb Kreider for being named 2021 Women of Excellence by Path to Purchase Institute! "Caron and Deb are fantastic purpose-driven leaders. Their contributions to The GIANT Company are many, and their actions truly help us deliver on our team and company promises," said Vice President of Team Experience Matthew Lutcavage. "They strive for and achieve excellence in all that they do, so it's only fitting that they are being honored by Path to Purchase. Congratulations, Caron and Deb, and thanks for all that you do!" For today's Meet a Team Member Monday, we're shining a light on Region Operations Coordinator Jessica Smith! Jessica joined The GIANT Company in 2002 as a grocery bagger and has felt like family ever since. As Region Operations Coordinator, Jessica works with the stores in her region to help with anything and everything they may need. Her daily duties can range from planning and organizing events to assisting store teams with sustainability efforts – she does it all! Having an extensive background in the stores, Jessica can easily relate to other team members and help them accomplish their goals quickly and efficiently. Jessica truly embodies all of our company values, but one value, care, resonates with her the most. "I have been working at the company for more than half my life and have just grown so much as a person. I am so grateful for all the opportunities GIANT has given me in each chapter of my life, from being a young high school student to becoming a mom. When I stepped down from being a manager, I was beyond nervous to tell my director. My director never made me feel
