It’s time to meet team member Brandon Kauffman! A graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and current MBA student, Brandon recently completed a successful internship with the Store Operations team and is currently training in our Bakery Management program. Brandon first joined our team back in 2014 as a cart pusher and has experienced a lot over the years, but working during the COVID-19 pandemic was new territory. One of his biggest takeaways has been how team members can take on any unforeseen challenge and still find a way to come out smiling. “The pandemic put many team members, departments, and entire stores in positions they had never found themselves in before, and they took on the challenges while still managing to uphold our brand promises.” A self-proclaimed fan of all things marketing, Brandon is a big fan of the company’s new brand platform, For Today’s Table. “Our new platform should give our customers assurance that The GIANT Company is prepared to provide fresh, easy meals that any family would love. I know it will continue to revolutionize my department by
Each year the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC honors those who best exemplify the organization’s goal of being a Catalyst for the Harrisburg region in making it a better place to live, work and play. This year, one of our partners in the fight against hunger, Joe Arthur, executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, is being honored for his leadership of the food bank through the pandemic and for the sustained impact that his work has had in the community for the past decade. Way to go, Joe, and thank you for all you and your team do to eliminate hunger and feed families across Central Pennsylvania!
One of our favorite holiday traditions recently wrapped up, and it was our biggest and best yet. Ten thousand donated turkeys. Five hundred team member volunteer hours. Twenty-eight partner food banks. Four states. One week. But our work isn’t done. Now more than ever, food banks and pantries need our help, which is why starting Friday, Nov. 27th and through Dec. 3rd, all GIANT and MARTIN'S stores will host a non-perishable food drive to further stock the shelves of community hunger relief organizations. By working together, we can Make A Difference and make sure families across our communities can share a meal and make memories this Thanksgiving, no matter what.
It's hard to believe that 15 years have passed since we opened our flagship store in Camp Hill, PA. The heart of the community and our company, the store has long been a hub for us to innovate, learn, and launch. This week, the store wrapped up a major remodel, bringing a fresh, solution-centric, and elevated shopping experience to the families we serve. Among its many new amenities, artisan flatbreads, an in-store Hissho Sushi Inc. bar, Saladworks, LLC, a gourmet cheese and charcuterie station, aged dry beef, smoked meats, and a self-serve tap wall with over three dozen beers and wines to enjoy in-store or to go. In an exclusive, all-access tour with PennLive.com, our President Nicholas Bertram said, "What better place to reimagine the whole shopping experience, the entire decor package, and everything than this store. We wanted to reward people right here in our home market with our latest and greatest thinking. I'm immensely proud of what it looks like." Check out the full story below to see more of what's new in Camp Hill!
We're proud to have Scott Willis and so many other veterans as part of our team. Scott is a Facility Manager at our Distribution Center and reflected on his time served in the United States Marine Corps. "The best part of my time in the USMC was the lifelong friendships with the Marines I served with and the camaraderie I now have with other Marines. It's a bond that is very hard to explain unless you have served." For those who have served and are actively serving our country, on Veterans Day and every day, we honor you.

There’s no better time than Global Diversity Awareness Month to announce that our very own Manuel Haro, Vice President of Brand Strategy, has been newly named to the prestigious The National Hispanic Corporate Council (NHCC). Founded in 1985 and based in Washington D.C., this collaborative community provides member companies with access to Hispanic talent, training, and consumer resources. “The GIANT Company is committed to championing diversity, inclusion, and equity throughout our company and in the communities we serve, and to have the greatest impact, we know we must unite with others who feel as strongly as we do,” said Haro. “Joining NHCC not only demonstrates our commitment to being leaders in diversity and inclusion but also shows that we are continuously investing in the Hispanic community. As a proud member of the Hispanic community, I’m grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to working with this organization and its network to build on its successes over the past three decades to create stronger communities for us all.”

It's Meet a Team Member Monday, to celebrate American Pharmacists Month we wanted to introduce Nick Koch, one of our regional pharmacy managers. Nick first joined our team in 2008 as a pharmacy intern; today, he's the one mentoring students and interns, something he's incredibly proud to be able to do. "During my first year in my current position, I established a relationship with my alma mater, Wilkes University, to give pharmacy students an opportunity to conduct experiential rotations in our stores. To share the knowledge that my peers have imparted to me with a new generation of pharmacists is personally rewarding. As a result, we're hiring some of the best up-and-coming pharmacists in our area, who are ready to make a big impact on The GIANT Company on day one." Added Nick, "Our culture has made us the employer of choice for pharmacy students and pharmacists in our area. We aim to be the best pharmacy chain in the country by promoting public health through immunizations, conducting health screenings, and being pillars of wellness knowledge for our community."
