Each year, all Year Up United staff members receive Professional Development funds to put towards nurturing their personal goals and professional growth. Nefertiti Khalfani, Year Up United Senior Manager of Enrollment, has been utilizing her funds in various ways - paying off student loans, pursuing certificates, and developing a 5-year plan with a career coach to name a few! These funds can be put towards attending conferences, accessing learning resources, completing professional certificates, attending leadership training and career coaching, and paying down student loans! Not only is this benefit offered to all staff, but it is highly encouraged by the community through opportunity sharing and prioritization of creating space for team members to take the time needed to pursue their interests. What would you do with your PD funds? Check out our current job postings to join the team and explore both your personal and professional opportunities!
We are thrilled to share that over the last couple of weeks, we've welcomed new students across the country into our Information Technology, Business, and Software Development Career Pathways during orientation. These talented young adults kicked off their journeys with in-person activities designed to build connections, confidence, and community. Over the coming months, they’ll gain the in-demand technical skills employers are seeking, like troubleshooting, coding, and systems management, alongside the career readiness skills that prepare them to thrive in the workplace, including communication, collaboration, and leadership. And we’re just getting started - next month we’ll also launch our next cohort of Customer Experience students! We’re excited to see these young adults grow, learn, and take their first steps toward launching new careers.

These photos are just some of our recent graduates in action during their learning and development phase, internship experiences, and first steps into launching their careers. To our graduates: Congratulations on this major milestone. We’re excited to see the impact you’ll make in your careers and communities. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey!
Grace Miller, PSM I, Enrollment Manager and Year Up United alum, credits the support she received as a student while in the program for helping her to launch her career and for inspiring her to return to as a staff member. She has been with Year Up United now for four years, and the opportunities to learn and to provide similar support to other young adults continues to make her work feel impactful. As a Year Up United staff member you will have the opportunity to participate as a “coach,” building relationships, providing support, and acting as a mentor to students as they navigate the different phases of the program.
