Pros

First, they conduct different kinds of training for teachers to improve their job performance. Second, they give out incentives to keep employees motivated. Third, if there are issues, they let you explain yourself and listen to both sides. Fourth, your salary can increase by star rank based on points. Fifth, they give out salary twice a month. Lastly, admins are friendly and easy to talk to.

Cons

Punishment for absences, even with valid reasons, leaves you with a bad feeling because they still deduct a large amount of money from your salary. 10% withholding tax is deducted from the total sum of your salary. Since it's booking based system, it's sometimes troublesome to wait for students and end up not having classes because no one booked your class or refreshing your page like every minute to check if there are new bookings.

Pros

Flexible hours - I can change my shift daily. If I have something to do for that day, I won't open my sched and no one questions it. If you don't feel like going to work that's fine. Home base- I am a mom. I need to be at home with my baby all the time. This job allows me to do that. Admin Help - The Support staff are always there to help you and they are always friendly Interesting work - The work is so interesting because I love talking to people and teaching Salary Always on time

Cons

Unfair deductions - There are instances when a student make unfair claims and complaints about you and there's nothing you can do about it. They will deduct your points. When you are absent even for valid reasons they will still mark you as absent and deduct your points and SALARY. The salary deduction is actually nearly 3x the amount of a single lesson. if a lesson is P55 each the deduction is $140. SO UNFAIR!!! When the student is absent you only get half $30 on that lesson when it could have been booked by another student for a full price. Not so many students - the teacher student ration is not equal so many teachers and there are few students. The number of hours that I have open are not even full most of the time and I only work part time.

Pros

51Talk started small and it is continually expanding due to an effective marketing strategy. It values employees and teachers based on their skills, regardless of their educational background. At first I was afraid to send in my resume because my course is unrelated. But it's ok. :) 51Talk will make you discover your love for flexible working hours and teaching ESL. Friendly admin are there to help you. They are just a call away.

Cons

If you have unstable internet connection at home and frequent power outages, you will get a lot of complaints and salary deduction due to absences. So you really have to upgrade your connection and take note of rotational power outages. :( It is a requirement to have a mobile phone because that is how they get in touch with teachers.
