Pros

Your coworkers are your only support system, and the students are truly the best.

Cons

The pay, the administration, the lack of control, the unprofessionalism, the location (a vulnerable population right next to the "Unsafeway"?? Really??), and more.

Thank you for your response. We have developed a pay scale across positions that has been used since summer of 2020 that is solely based on education and years of experience. We are happy to hear that your co-workers were a good support system as our staff is truly a strength of our organization.

Very low wages, under-developed HR department, lack of transparency, lack of communication from administration in decision-making process, school is located in a public space, favoritism, nepotism, possible insurance fraud, other questionable financial practices and encouraged dual relationships

Hello and thank you for your response. We are happy to hear that the clients, staff and environment were a positive experience for you! We have undergone an almost complete overhaul of administration and some restructuring in both the school and clinic. We have been working very hard in the 2020-2021 year to be both transparent and equitable in all aspects of the organization. We have developed and been using a pay scale for all positions based solely on education and years of experience since June of 2020. We are also happy to report that all audits conducted have passed with flying colors!

Pros

The clinical and teaching teams go above and beyond their responsibilities to offer as much behavioral, academic, and social support given the many constraints of this environment.

Cons

Administration will spend more time responding to Glassdoor reviews, denouncing truths experienced by staff members than responding to crises within the school, leaving staff members to navigate dangerous situations (eg employees requesting support in the crisis group chat will be left on ‘read’ for hours begging the question as to why there is a crisis group chat at all?) Environment for students is unfit and dangerous. Consistent underemployment and *high* turnover rate. Review “it is like day and night” obviously written by an administration member in an attempt to undercut actual employee experience (see above title about optics). Staff consistently asked to work outside of their scope of employment (this is true for BCBAs, BTs, and teachers), putting the ethical practice of this “school” into question.

Thank you for your response. We have a dedicated crisis chat for both campuses that are responded to immediately upon crisis, with a leveling system so each staff member knows how and when to respond. If a staff member believes the environment to be unfit or unsafe for both staff and learners, you are encouraged to let a member of the administration team know immediately so we can rectify the safety concern. Lastly, I think it is important to note that our 2020-2021 turnover rate was actually 16.98% which falls well below the national average turnover rate for non-profits as well as for-profit clinics. We strive to act in good faith and make changes and improvements so that staff will love what they do and where they work!
