Great teachers and staff. Very ineffective administration, bad pay, and a huge lack of communication.

Pros

Each classroom team is dedicated and effective.

Cons

This dedicated and effective staff is hamstrung by ineffective and evasive administration. Pay is way to low for the amount of responsibility. New staff members are often not trained functionally and have to be taught by peers on the job.

Hello and thank you for your response. We created a pay scale for all positions at APL based on education and years of service that has been used since June of 2020 in order to promote equity among staff members. We also have a Clinical Support Specialist whose role is to train new hires and existing staff as well as deliver professional development to all.

Kids are amazing, administration is frustrating

Pros

The kids at APL are phenomenal and working with them was one of the best experiences of my life. Most of my coworkers were wonderful and worked together well. I felt like I was really making a difference in the lives of the students.

Cons

Communication was lacking, the salary was difficult to live on in Seattle, and some of the administration's hiring choices were mind boggling.

Pros

It's an all inclusive environment for kids across the Autism spectrum that provides a place for kids that may not have any other place to go.

Cons

Communication among teachers, other paras, leadership and across the school is poor at best. Getting promoted is nearly impossible.
