Above all, the pay. Take whatever is the absolute low end for your field, subtract 30%, and that's what Accruent will offer you. This is not an exaggeration - they offer junior devs low 50's, and a senior dev is lucky to earn what's an entry level salary anywhere else. It's a wonder they get any engineers to work there at all, really, and of course the turnover is incredibly high. They call the awful pay their "High potential, low experience" model, which in practice is indistinguishable from the Wal Mart "Race to the Bottom" model. It might be respectable if the pay was even close to being within range of fair market value, but it's just so far off the charts that it impossible not to resent it.
Managers are inexperienced and it shows. Your boss's boss will micromanage what tools and processes you are to use to do your job, and you'll get blamed for the consequences of their bad decisions. They call this being "results oriented".
They're never going to do anything innovative or even interesting with any of the products. Even if they wanted to, they can't retain the talent needed for that with their awful pay. They don't, though. Stuff gets fixed when customers threaten to leave, but they never try to stay ahead of the curve or do anything forward thinking. One of the flagship products is an outright disaster. It's not an engineering driven company, and the products are an afterthought. They haven't actually thought up a new idea and executed it in over 20 years - everything after the original Accruent Suite they got by acquisition.
Accruent grows by buy buying out their competitors, gutting their companies and letting their products collect dust. If your company is being bought out by Accruent, run. If you're being paid fairly they're going to find some excuse to fire you anyway. (There are never layoffs at Accruent, because that would mean they have to pay unemployment.)
They used to do this "Culture IQ" online survey thing a couple times a year where people were supposed to regurgitate the company slogans and buzzwords at them, but instead people told them the truth so their response was to stop doing the survey. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
The only thing upper management cares about is EBITA growth, and you're reminded of this constantly. They think it's supposed to inspire you and make you proud that all your hard work, that you're not being fairly compensated for, is going to stuff the pockets of a handful of shareholders at the top. "Thanks to your hard work, a half dozen rich people got even richer this year! Keep it up, guys!" And the fact that they're making so much profit is direct proof that they have plenty of money to pay you, but they don't due to lack of human decency. Sorry, I know that the purpose of every company is to make money, but they're particularly crass and obnoxious about it.
