The only pro is that you get to use that experience for your next job

Pros

Consistently stable and predictable workplace. Little threat of employment surprises (firing, demotion, unfair disciplinary action) and little threat of frightening consequential corporate changes (downsizing, stock price collapse, investor actions, surprise closing of locations, moving locations). Innovation has been significant in the past several years including a roll-out of modern technology, hybrid work, and fully remote work (though not for branch employees). Genuine people with minimal interpersonal drama among management. Apple has a Diversity, Inclusion and Equity policy to establish consistent expectations for maintaining an inclusive workplace.

Cons

Innovation over the past few years has been significant, but also was greatly needed. Apple FCU is going through an 'awkward adolescence' as it expands from mid-sized credit to a large credit union. As a result, policies/procedures, authority/accountability, workflows, decision-making processes may be unclear to new hires (and to existing employees).

Low Retention

Pros

Talented staff who care about one another. HQ building is nice. Pay increases are based on performance and there's usually a yearly bonus based on org-wide goals. Community service is really valued. When your department is fully staffed with people that are experienced, work-life balance is good.

Cons

A lot of those talented, caring employees are leaving and that means more work for those that are still here, and senior leaders are either oblivious or don't care. Some departments seem to be too small to actually do all of the work they're responsible for. The HR department recently all quit and no one is talking about why. Senior leaders are not progressive at all. Pay isn't great or competitive for the expensive Northern VA area and HR is in denial. IT people get paid WAY better than any other department. Promotions are hard to come by for most, easy for a select few.

Thanks for your review; we value feedback, especially from current employees. AFCU’s management and P&C maintain an open-door policy. AFCU prides itself in offering a total rewards package that is very competitive, including salary, bonus, 401k, and pension. While we are sad to see our employees leave, we respect their decisions to explore other opportunities. We encourage any employee if they have unaddressed concerns to engage in the open-door policy with your manager or a P&C representative. Thank you!
