Pros

You get to play with animals

Cons

They do not pay well. The work environment is incredibly toxic. Most of the coworkers are 2 faced and they have lost several of their best investigators recently. Management is unbelievably toxic, they will lie to your face they will throw you under the bus and they will say one thing to you and another to fellow management. Manipulative, one of the managers will cry right along with you but it’s absolutely bull. They want you to eat sleep live and breathe “the team” and if your personal life gets in the way they will tear you down behind your back and in front of others. The pay is not worth the work you do or worth sacrificing your mental health. The job itself is amazing but the people you have to work with and under are awful. I could go on and on and on about the toxicity of this work place. After I left, a close friend stayed for several months before she quit and would tell me about how upper management would bash me in front of team members even though I was no longer there

Pros

The AZ Humane Society does great things for animals in need. I enjoyed very much working with the animals and I learned a lot of new skills.

Cons

Unfortunately, management is extremely poor. It makes for a very toxic, stressful, unhappy work place. I feel that all managers should be replaced by new managers that actually know how to be professional, have actual people relation skills, have an education, and that does not pick favorites. I am very disappointed with this and I am heartbroken that an organization that cares so much for animals, does not care enough about their hardworking, dedicated employees.

Pros

The beautiful campus at South Mountain is fantastic for the animals and a very nice facility to work in. Opportunity to work with some great people, volunteers and employees, who really care about animals and are dedicated and committed to their well being.

Cons

Great CEO but really poor management beyond that. Unorganized and inconsistent training does not set employees up for success, constantly changing policies and procedures are not effectively communicated because managers rarely interact with their teams and are condescending and dismissive when they do. New programs are rolled out before operational and logistical issues are worked out, causing unnecessary confusion, stress and errors. No performance improvement plans only disciplinary action.
