Poor wages, poor management , lack of progression , lack of staff, expect you to do two roles due to staffing issues and not hiring. Leadership behaviours expect from staff at lower levels but not by management. If your face fits then you will progress , lots of favouritism

Where to start Disgustingly unfair treatment across the board for employees regardless of how long you have been there and performing above expectations Constantly changing leadership due to a hidden toxic culture of promoting "face fit" managers and leaders who are yes men and women to senior leaders. They promote people into these roles without even asking a single question about being a manager or skills to that effect then offer no training whatsoever leading to a constant churn of incredibly bad managers (with a the few genuinely good ones being overlooked by the yes men who don't care about people and just looking good) Have seen countless practices of people being promoted without jobs being advertised internally due to favouritism or nepotism. Also countless examples of women coming back from maternity leave or absence being phased out, not coming back to their old roles but ones totally different, or indeed demoted without cause. No HR presence in the functions whatsoever in my experience. No guiding presence to curb the incredibly bad culture and toxic practices that occur. Don't expect help from HR to challange any if the inequality you experience...you witness find it...they are hear to tick a box and say nice things but do nothing. Rampant face fit culture and click culture. No care for for employees anymore If you feedback on any issues above you are paid lip service and kind words but behind closed doors marked as trouble. No moral or company values left thst mean anything. Owned by billionaires now when once was a private company so their only concern is making as much money as possible to increase the business outlook when they come to sell it....which will be any day now as they have tried twice and failed due to being greedy on company valuation. The only reason and their main tactic for propping the business up is the people that have been here for so long they won't move as they are brainwashed into staying. Multiple sweeping redundancies most years....no chance of long term job security. People are leaving the business at a ridiculous rate (5 days back in office was the final nail in the coffin) and those all tend to be the best people in the business so taking their talent with them. Constant bare faced denial of engagement survey feedback from their employees. Boots may seem like a great place to work from the outside but please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere, you won't find a career here if you value an employer that gives a single care about employees or fair treatment.
