Pros
Working at Carvana for me has been an awesome journey. When everything is working at peak performance the job is an absolute dream. Working at a Vending Machine for Carvana is pretty neat, I mean you're working inside a Vending Machine. I love working with a small enough team because you end up really getting to know your co-workers. Teamwork is a must in the working environment here. Communication is something that isn't always on the up and up, but internally in different markets within Carvana seems to roll down pretty steady. You are free to speak your ideas and actually implement them. There isn't a ton of micro-management that goes on in the "outside advocate" role, but it does take a great amount of work ethic - which if you have you will do just fine. You're able to manipulate your day-to-day task and really expand on areas that you want to excel in. You're able to let your Senior or Market Operations Manager know what and where you want to go in Carvana, and if they are good at their jobs, they will be able to guide you in the right direction. I've been lucky enough to work with such an amazing group of talented people that I actually now call friends in this market and it is so easy to point out how much we share information with each other that we are all really high performing advocates in this market. Medical is pretty competitive here. 401K is matched up to 6 percent. Stocks are given based on time here, that's nice of them. Working here is fun, challenging, and different everyday, something that I personally look for in a career, not a job. A co-worker asked me how happy I am here out of 10, 8/10 was my answer.
Cons
Communication as a whole seems to be out of sync at times. Two major roles (outside and inside advocates) that work in Carvana don't always sync up communication wise, and it can leak into the customer experience and tarnish it sometimes. Upper management can't always see how well you are performing in the market areas due to the increased rate that Carvana is growing. Growth is so fast at Carvana, if you're not able to be flexible and aren't able to learn and adapt, this probably isn't the place for you. Pay rates are changing and pay increases have been restructured (sad for the employees that joined before) Doesn't look like bonuses are a thing here anymore since they give out shares of CVNA. Depending on staffing, work/life balance is a struggle, but your teams helps you out a lot, if they are good. Culture is awesome at Carvana, really really awesome, but since the "blitzscaling" it's starting to appear like Carvana is teetering on the edge of losing them.
