Pros

Guaranteed hours, picnic and holiday party, OT is often available, good health insurance plans. I really can't think of anything else.

Cons

The pay is less than any other company in the field will pay. There is a lot of favoritism, rule were only enforced when managers on shift were in a bad mood; even then, a select few were still allowed to break rules while others got written up. There are often too many distractions such as managers yelling or singing behind you while you're trying to dispatch, managers and supervisors trying to talk to you while you're on the phone handling an alarm, or managers standing around you loudly talking to coworkers about sports while you're trying to do your job. Sometimes you have to wait over an hour to use the bathroom because the line is so long and some managers would rather you wait than send more than one person out of the room at a time. No absences are excused, not even with doctors notes which is ridiculous when there are employees who have health problems. There is no job security. If they feel like it, they will find any reason possible to fire you.

Pros

The company overall is good as far as raises/advancement and we are always getting bonuses for things as simple as coming to work when we're supposed to and always a yearly Christmas bonus which is nice. After you've been there approximately 1.5 years you get to start going on 4 day trips a year. One of those trips being New York to see a broadway show in the winter. The CEO also sends the employees who've been there 1.5 or more years a gift every year usually being some type of delicious sweets so that is also something good.

Cons

Certain management hasn't really grown up yet and still can act very immature at times. You can't really go to the managers boss because they kind of sweep the problems under the rug so the higher ups don't find out about the real issues going on. Certain ones seem to care more about the dispatchers personal lives and getting them in trouble for out of work problems rather than making sure mistakes aren't being made on the alarms and phone calls. If one of the managers has a problem with you they will let it be known to everyone and ive witnessed before a manager hearing gossip from a dispatcher and going around telling different people in the room. What ever happened to confidentiality?! You can't trust to say anything in the room in fear that you will get fired even if you're just trying to vent your frustrations to make the work place better.

Pros

Promotes from within, great health benefits, extravagant holiday parities, quarterly trips, remarkable yearly retreats for management, 401K match, paid vacations, bonuses... and more! I personally started as a dispatcher, as did many other employees on the management level. COPS is able to recognize great qualities, hard work and dedication.

Cons

If you are not able to get to work on time or on a regular basis you will not be employed with this company for long.
