Pros

Helping to protect people as an alarm dispatcher or support team member is something you can take pride in doing, no matter where you ultimately end up spending your career. No skills are needed; COPS does all the training. Note that there are real opportunities to be promoted at this company: EVERY shift supervisor, shift manager, site manager, training team member, director, VP (and even an EVP of the company) all started out at the entry level dispatcher position. There are dozens of people in these positions, and this is a family oriented company that is growing rapidly. There are MANY special benefits, including outstanding performance recognition, health insurance, company-sponsored day trips to see popular shows / attend events, retreats, and parties. Mostly every employee is full-time. There are many shift options (including overnights) and six locations around the country.

Cons

This company provides an important service, and it needs responsible individuals. If you don't like helping people, then you should look elsewhere. If you struggle with being on time, or you have a situation where you regularly call out - then this company is NOT for you as it has reasonably strict buy fair lateness and attendance guidelines. Even talented people will be let go if they cannot comply. Be advised that you have to be willing to work different days on your shift (the hours will not vary, but you will need to work some weekends), as alarm monitoring is 24//7/365.

Pros

Having worked for COPS Monitoring in several different positions for almost 5 years, I can honestly say this company cares. For you as an individual, there are a heap of benefits such as Vacation time, Earned Sick time, Frequent raises ( No cap on pay either! ), Quarterly paid trips for tenured employees, Half-price drinks and free coffee, Extravagant Holiday party, and Management's Open door policy. While I could go on, I want to also mention that COPS Monitoring and all of their employees do their best with growing your skills set, even if this is your first job or your 100th. As our CEO once said, "You don't have to go after the person in front of you to grow." Advancement opportunities become available quite frequently because of the constant state of growth we are in. The job itself is quite easy and you are seated for most of the day which is relaxing. Throughout your first 3 weeks, you will be with someone training, which is overseen by the Shift Managers. There is technical information you have to learn, but after the first week you’ll find your groove. If you are on the fence about applying for any reason, I would highly suggest you submit an application and simply ask the hiring agent any of your questions or concerns! Personally, I have never felt more motivated and supported by a company that I often find myself blurring the lines between “company” and “family”. Due to the culture, working environment, and countless other benefits, I have fully dedicated myself to this company and their message. If offered another job from a different company that paid twice as much, I would turn it down with no hesitation.

Cons

I don't really like my commute. This is just Nashville's terrible infrastructure at play though. Aside from that, I am 100% content!

Pros

I have made a few friends here and the pay is decent.

Cons

Micromanaging culture that expects you to work non-stop. If you are off of the phone for 2 seconds, expect a call or someone walking over to check on you. It is busy all of the time and if you have a stressful call, do not expect any support or ability to take a breather. I think that poor management without an ounce of empathy is the cause.
