Don't Work Here!

Pros

If you work here, open as many accounts for your family and extended family as you possible can. You can buy the mutual funds at NAV (Class A with no commission) for life, even if you leave the company. Although pay is lower than most other companies for the work, company provides retirement plan (MRP) of 15% of your salary per year....you vest after 6 years...most employees stay because of this (Golden Handcuffs).

Cons

Mediocracy is promoted. Ideas are accepted only when pushed, and even then, there is no reward when they use them. In fact, you will suddenly find that you have "personality" issues in your review, which will never go away!. Stepford wive's mentality.....as long as you always go with the flow and smile no matter what....you will fit in perfectly. Very clique-ish. The Golden Handcuffs (see Pros). It took years for me to re-gain my self-esteem after this job. Worst place I have ever worked.

You *are* dispensable

Pros

1. The people... the other associates and many of the leaders. 2. Some of the offices have a great atmosphere 3. Many of the senior associates/ portfolio managers / senior analysts have an invested interest in you and helping you grow professionally 4. Great retirement plan 5. Extensive/thorough hiring process -- as a result, a lot of great people recruited.

Cons

1. Moving away from the original values and management style of JL 2. Too many changes at once. And these monumental changes seem to be implemented by top management without getting input from anyone else (i.e. associates that would be most impacted by the change). Often times the changes only hinder the associates ability to do their job 3. Despite what they say, there is no "open door" policy. They do not want to hear feedback unless you are singing their praises and 100% onboard. 4. Mentality is turning into "it's my way or the highway" 5. They seem to be moving into a direction where all employees will become dispensable - where ideas to develop, improve or evolve are disregarded and instead, an assembly line of mass production is put in place.

Pros

The bonus and retirement. Also the work load is not too bad depending on what team you are on.

Cons

Work environment, not the friendliest place to work, people usually keep to themselves not to much social interaction. It's pretty much get your work done and go home. No much room for growth, promotions are hard to come by.
