Don't work here

Pros

None at this time. It used to be a fun, exciting place to work with a great mission and model. And now it's a corporate wasteland. There are a few good people there but their numbers are quickly diminishing. The only thing I can think of is that I still believe in the Caregiver Homes model, if they implement it right.

Cons

The culture is awful. Some people with ill and self-serving intentions currently set the tone and have the power. That kind of miasmic atmosphere filters down to the rest of the company. In corporate, you are rewarded for how late you stay, not the quality of your work. Forget leaving early to go to a doctor's appointment. You'll probably get indirectly punished for it at some point. If you don't speak your supervisor's language, you are judged harshly and unfairly. You are blamed for your "failures", even if it was not your fault and they do not try to help you succeed by providing more support or resources. Your actual accomplishments are also ignored. Don't forget the ageism and sexism. You will be completely looked over if you are appear younger and are a woman. They don't even try hire diverse staff. It's not a good place to start your career. There are very little perks to working there and you will never be rewarded financially. You will be looked at as paid labor first, and a human second. People are fired left and right with absolutely no warning, explanation, or transparency. You are constantly looking over your shoulder worrying you're next. Change management is nonexistent. Because of this, people are leaving before they are seemingly inevitably let go. They are losing their best talent due to under valuing and overlooking their employees. Too bad a place that showed promise when I started there quickly went into a nose dive. The corporate office is an absolutely toxic place to work, and I unfortunately want to vomit every time I think about Seniorlink.

Wish they gave employees the same integrity they give caregivers

Pros

The mission to support caregivers and provide the resources they need to care for the people they love. They also have a great plan for how the company is going to move into the private sector and not completely rely on the public sector, they are very flexible with products and bring proven results saving a large number of dollars.

Cons

You may flourish at SeniorLink if you have no family, no friends, and no other passion other than caregiving. SeniorLink does not believe in personal life, they expect you to be "on" 24/7 whether you are in IT, HR, Marketing, Clinical or Sales. Departments are constantly cat-fighting each other, there is absolutely no partnership between them. Everyone steps over each other to get the credit. I'm an experienced professional with over 15 years experience in my field and I have never encountered such nasty politics. They get a lot of good press and they have grown a lot over the past few years but unfortunately, the story of their overworked and unhappy employees is not told. It has been known executives post fake reviews on Glassdoor to attract talent, nothing for them is sacred ground.
