Pros

Great benefits and compensation package Conscious effort around DEI, given strong presence in the Leadership team

Cons

Too many stories of projects being pushed forward that were crippled due to poor infrastructure, poor thought, too many egos, unclear goals, that lead to delays, loss of moral. Too many projects and alarms thrown down from the top. The leadership cares about the most minutia details, leaving little space for the mid managers to thrive and innovate. Leadership team thinks in terms of incrementally, in the name of 'Operate at Depth', and there is little scope for innovation. When you are fighting for survival and being able to answer all the small questions peppered by ELTs, there is no mental capacity to 'Think Big'. Time is spent in small details to make sure we can 'earn trust'. As a talent, I want to spend that time to Think Big, to really innovate and drive much bigger shareholder growth. A very unhealthy working environment. Error margin is small. Fear is constant. I would urge talented folks to leave, and I hear that many are.

Pros

The only pros I can see are those that benefit pet owners as you can bring your pet to work with you.

Cons

Never before IN MY LIFE have I been through a training class where you are demoralized, dehumanized, insulted, and told that YOU AND YOUR SKILLS DO NOT MATTER (and that you MUST unlearn these to learn the “Chewy way”) from DAY 1 (and I’ve been through PLENTY of other accelerated trainings that move fast paced yet ENCOURAGE AND FOSTER an actual learning environment). To allow trainers to be SCREAMING AND YELLING to emphasize a point, make the ENTIRE CLASS feel THREATENED, and create one of the most TOXIC AND UNPROFESSIONAL environments I’ve ever been through IN MY LIFE just goes to show that the company, let alone their egotistical, and down right mean and nasty trainers WILL SET YOU UP TO FAIL. You will be broken down and made to feel that if you do not assimilate, that you are worth NOTHING. And then to have an HR rep not even listen to your grievances and act as if they’re too busy distracting themselves with a plastic bottle, it’s a wonder these people haven’t been fired and cleaned out as they’re CLEARLY wasting company profits with CONSTANTLY recruiting and giving tours of the office in groups of 2-3 people on the hour, EVERY HOUR. If you value yourself, your work ethic, and more importantly RESPECTING OTHERS, do yourself a favor and find ANYWHERE ELSE TO WORK, CHEWY WILL DESTROY YOU.

Pros

Honestly, from what I experienced, there are no pros to working for Chewy.

Cons

- All types of harassment within the workplace. HR is extremely unsupportive and takes a victim blaming approach. - Management is extremely disengaging and condescending. That is when they're present, as they always seem to be on vacation.... - Unclear expectations between all shifts. Incorrect information is strewn about the warehouse. - Endless drama between employees. It is so distracting and makes it extremely difficult to do your job effectively. - Constant talk of how Amazon does things. Chewy is always adapting to Amazon methods as many seniors came from there. - Unfair treatment of all employees. From hourly team members to salaried managers. - Extremely unorganized on-boarding and training. - Terrible work environment for women as you get no support from HR or senior management in the event of harassment. The list goes on and on...
