Pros

I gained some valuable experience to place on my resume and move forward in my career. I made some really good friends. We had a great solid team of loyal nurses.

Cons

Patient care is NOT top priority with this company. Neither is work life balance with their employees. All that matters is how much money is going into the bosses pocket. Even if that means employees working and not being paid for it. Case load was not doable in 80hrs in 2wks. All RNs were pulling over 100hrs in 2wks. Very chaotic and poor communication throughout entire company. Not a family friendly environment. Turned into a 24/7 job. False advertisement of social worker and chaplain services.

We are sorry that you feel you cannot recommend Choice. We are glad that you feel you gained valuable experience and worked with good nurses. We also are discouraged you felt over worked! Choice does want to address the issues you noted in this review as unfortunately they do not reflect the average employee experience or the performance of the Tyler agency: *In 2015 our average RN Field Case Manager averaged 3.9 visits per day and 25 points per week. Our goal is 4.2 and 28 points. This is slightly below nationwide averages and we feel it has contributed to our agencies consistently being ranked in the top 10% nationwide for re-admission prevention in the 30, 60, and 90 day categories. Less than 3% of all paid hours in nursing in 2016 YTD were overtime hours. *No money is going in the bosses pocket in your location---The CEO and majority owner has never taken a distribution or paycheck from the Tyler agency choosing instead in the initial five years of operation to reinvest those monies in the company infrastructure. * Chaplain visits are not tracked in our EMR but there were 408 social worker visits completed in the Tyler agency in 2015. More than one a day! Our networked contracts in 2016 have enabled us to further broaden this access to care in the region. In regard specifically to Chaplain services--these services are provided via contract with two separate entities at this agency. *2016 Patient Satisfaction surveys currently rank Choice Homecare in the top 10% nationally in the SHP database. Again we are very sorry you had a bad experience and hope the experience you referenced has benefited you going forward.

Pros

Lot's of patients. Cutting edge program focused on re-hospitalization prevention and not on profits. High pay rates for RN. Although they have't paid me for all my visits one month after severance.

Cons

Work overload/ high caseload. Attention to detail that raises suspicions. Bad reputation of managers in community. High reliance on PRN visits and hectic weekend call with no backup. Prepare to work 50+ hrs per week. Zero notification or consultation of on-call schedule assignments.

We are sorry that you feel you cannot recommend Choice. Choice does want to address the issues you noted in this review: 1) 2014 was a very difficult year for us in management in the Tyler office specifically. As you are aware we grew exponentially in our Tyler office in 2013 and 2014 due to the cutting-edge hospital re-admission programs. Accommodating for the growth of an agency by almost 30 patients (post-acute at that!) a month made it difficult to hire fast enough but trust us we tried (we ran constant adds and raised pay rates to the 90th percentile). We feel we improved drastically in 2015 and 2016 as In 2015 our average RN Field Case Manager averaged 3.9 visits per day and 25 points per week. Furthermore call schedules are set and calendared in all offices 3 months out. 2) We will look into any ESRD issues. From a census perspective we run a very low number of HD patients (less than 1% in 2015 and 2016) but we will pull cases and have QA review. Thank you. Again we are very sorry you had a bad experience and hope you might give us another try!
