JUST WALK AWAY!

Pros

Pay is above minimum wage.

Cons

Hours are severely limited, sometimes just four hours a week, and they are based on how many customers you sign up for the DSW Rewards program. Headsets with the managers exhorting you constantly to push the rewards program, push sales, meet impossibly unreasonable sales and rewards quotas. The pressure never lets up. Rude managers who snap out orders, criticize staff over the headsets so that everyone can hear -- very humiliating. Very little or no training. You are expected to ask every customer if they are a member of the awards program, and if they are still speaking to you after you give them the spiel, actually having them fill out a form on the sales floor while they are just trying to shop. If you're looking for a part-time job with decent hours, managers who treat you with respect and do not play favorites, adequate training, and an occasional thank you for a job well done, this is not the place for you. RUN AWAY and don't look back. You can do better just about anywhere else.

Pros

Employee discount SHOES! Fun brand meetings Nice co-workers (where I worked at least) 2 out of my 4 managers were pleasant to work with

Cons

Low pay You have to literally hound customers to buy shoes and to sign up for the stupid rewards program. Headsets. NO COMMISSION! You are expected to entice customers into buying shoes and get yelled at over the headset when customers in your 'section' leave without buying anything! So what happens when you spend half an hour with a customer helping them stuff their feet into ten different pairs of shoes like a slave, and they end up buying a couple pairs? Absolutely nothing.
