Pros

The product is sold by allowing the customer to use it free for 4 weeks (a try before you buy approach) - this tends to be very successful, with around 80pc converting to full purchases Company is in hyper growth - I joined about 2 years ago when there were c 20 employees - now there are nearly 300 Very fast moving environment which is never boring. It's very meritocratic - some people thrive on the lack of structure but others would be best placed to find a more structured job post-college Fellow sales employees tend to be of a similar age to oneself (I am 26) Very flat management structure - easy to approach bosses on a day to day basis As long as you're selling, the earnings are good

Cons

The growth of Darktrace can lead to things being rather chaotic no long term graduate training programme - once you've done your initial training, you'll be expected to be selling (or at least assisting in sales) within the first quarter If you are not selling, the base pay is low People who are not selling are removed quickly

Pros

Awesome coworkers. Made lifelong friendships. The technology is fantastic. Free benefits.

Cons

Pretty much everything, from the top of sales Management to your direct report there is simply nothing but incompetence within this management team. I would never recommend someone to take a job here. They are too late to go the channel route and they’re too small in America to succeed. Thoma Bravo is going to squeeze every last dime out of Darktrace and then sell to the highest bidder for their technology. It’s so bad that by the end of every quarter you’ll be offering 80% discounts just to see if you can get something in, you’ll then get your quota doubled and the threat of being fired because that’s the only style management has. There is no consistency or development, no one knows what they’re doing.

Pros

The only cyber company that will hire you with 1-2 yrs sales experience. You'll go far if you show up every day and work without complaining. Company is ever-changing. 10 years from nothing to multi-billion valuation. Of course there are growing pains. This has been a direct sales model for 10 years so we've had to throw heads at the problem without the proper distribution in the channel like more mature cyber/IT companies. People complaining about the lack of experience across the board have never worked at a high-growth startup. We're just starting to mature now. New C levels, more focus on the channel. In the medium term there will be less and less salespeople here as we build distribution elsewhere. If you have the opportunity to sell here, use it to springboard your career. No it won't be easy, but you won't find an easy sales job in your mid-twenties in any industry worth being in. The CRM isn't that bad, its just easy to complain about. You get used to it. All of the terrible reviews you see here will likely be obsolete in the next couple of years. The structure of everything is changing. One thing that remains constant - the technology itself. It's superb.

Cons

Work at enough orgs you realize they're all messy and far from perfect. Darktrace included. But this is just reality, especially in a hyper-growth industry. Sometimes speed is the most important thing. Long term, things will stabilize internally at DT and it will become a blue-chip cyber company.
