Pros

This company truly has the potential to be something great and I had the privilege of working with some incredibly bright and talented people. There is no doubt that Dynata remains a top supplier in the space. Dynata is the product of multiple mergers and acquisitions. That being said, it often felt like there was also a huge lack of direction in terms of business objectives. Antiquated strategy pushed from the top down was a hindrance to success. Over the years, our business practices (everything from sales forecasting to paying out partners) went backwards all in the name of saving a few dollars. Cost savings is favored over progressive initiatives to build or enhance the existing products. As I said before, Dynata has the foundation to be successful, but it often felt like we were behind the times. I remember sitting in an all company meeting where someone mentioned they had recently started pixeling ads for a marketing campaign like it was something revolutionary. Salary across the company was well below market value. At a point in time when the company was performing well there was concern over the number of employees leaving. Dynata's response to this was a culture campaign designating a tiny budget for a monthly group activity for each team in their local office. The overall budget probably covered the cost of a sandwich. We were required to report out on the activities we planned and send photos to HR. The lack of authenticity was palpable. Ending on a positive note, I’d like to reiterate the value of the experience and the people who I met during my time at this company. INITIALLY, I was pushed to grow and explore outside of my comfort zone. It was a great place to learn and I am grateful for that.

Cons

Reference "Pros" sentiments. Overall I feel relatively even keel about the experience solely based on how positive it was in the beginning.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and I am glad that on the whole you had a positive experience at Dynata. Our focus on culture stemmed from trying to create a new culture which preserved the best aspects of three legacy companies while at the same time ensuring it reflects our aspirational desire on being a destination for top talent and driving engagement.

Pros

Your immediate team, middle management, and Vice President of your department will always have your back. Every team I have worked on has been a pleasure. This company is the largest in the industry, and if the underlying issues are fixed, it has a ton of potential.

Cons

The RN-SSI merger has been a mess. Due to system/tech integrations the quality of product and service have decreased, and thus client relationships have been severely damaged. As a sales rep, this makes it very difficult to sell the most expensive product/service in our industry. From an Operations standpoint, it has never been more difficult to complete a project. Sales and Ops job now is essentially to get yelled at by clients and escalate internally. Given how much red tape there is from the merger, escalations are slow and problems just get passed around like a hot potato. No one is accountable and therefore client relationships get strained. This has killed morale. From a pay standpoint, it is on the lower end of the industry. We have done multiple acquisitions over the years so we know this to be the case. The argument for that is that it is the largest and most recognized company in the space. If the product/service was the best I could see that, but that is no longer the case. Smaller/scrappier companies are now at a much better price point for our customers and are able to deliver the same level of quality and faster.

Thank you for your candid feedback and appreciate your perspective. Working through integration of systems, culture, processes does take time, as you point out. We are focused on many of the challenges you have raised and while I have not been here very long, I have seen progress made even in my short tenure. The goal is to be 5-star!

Pros

The people you get to work with are the best part of the job. I had brilliant and thoughtful colleagues. The hardest part about leaving was not being able to take them with me.

Cons

A good organization starts with good leadership and decent management, which is not found at Dynata. The culture is laughable and the folks that pride themselves on running a team with positive culture are lying to make themselves look good in front of C-Suite. Scare tactics, empty threats and cryptic emails are frequently used to get people to take on more work and burn themselves out or make it seem like they’re not good at their job. Making you get online during a Saturday afternoon to submit a forecast or be “on call” at all hours of the day 24/7 even if you are on vacation. The work life balance is all work and no life. God forbid you take an hour to go to a doctors appointment during the day and not feel guilty about it. Internal initiatives to get feedback on team morale will blow over with time and the bad apples who sustain the toxic culture will continue on once eyes are off them. Bad behavior is rewarded and favoritism is a huge factor to your advancement. If you're friends with people then you'll see a positive outcome with your career progression. For the hardest worker, you'll never have a chance to get the promotion you deserve. If you do the absolute least? You're next in line for that promotion where you’ll do even less than what you did before! Management needs to change and a fresh set of positive eyes should be leading your teams at Dynata. I dedicated a lot of hard work and time during my many years employed at Dynata. I truly cared about the success of my accounts, the business and my team members until it was made clear to me by management they did not care about my success or career progression, which is why I left. If you’re vocal about it, then you’re reprimanded. It was unfortunate, degrading and embarrassing how I was treated after my two week notice was announced. Deleted from team chats, meeting invites immediately taken off my calendar, but more importantly not even acknowledged by some folks on my team in leadership/management and other colleagues I worked closely with. To this day, I’m still shocked that I worked at Dynata for so long and was treated the way I was on my way out. I guess what they say about people being replaceable at their jobs is true! Misery leads misery and everyone is miserable at this company. No one can be happy for you or your success even if that means advancing to better. Employees are undervalued, but more importantly underpaid. The merit raises are minuscule. You're asked each year to submit an annual review with a glimmer in your eye as you put in so much work for your review in order to receive a raise, but don't bother because you'll be asked to look at it again and rate yourself lower. You'll likely only see a 2% raise on your salary and never a 5% (which is the most that is offered) because Dynata can’t muster up the dollars to give their hardest workers money they deserve. You’re also not paid fairly compared to your colleagues and the newer more junior people are always paid more than the senior people. Can’t talk about comp with your peers, which is also toxic and a red flag. It is frequently mentioned on Glassdoor that pay is often fair, but it's not. It’s the ones that work the hardest that are paid the least. Dynata will continue to reward the same terrible toxic sales leaders and won’t change what they’re doing to fix the mass exit that will continue.
