Pros

The best part about the company are the people. There are some great memories with others that I will truly miss. The pay is decent but bonuses are skewed on performance which sucks.

Cons

Leadership and management is terrible. Not all the people on management are bad but 80% do not know how to lead properly. For a company that prides itself on not being the biggest but the best, not many people know how to lead nor communicate properly with their team. I will keep the rest of this review in constraint to the department that I worked for. I would not recommend anyone work in IT under its current leadership with the clear disconnect between the Directors and the people under them. Communication is not clear even on the simplest of questions and information is not shared adequately for an individual to do their job properly. Direct questions will be flat out ignored and on the few occasions that they are addressed, they are selectively addressed in a way that still does not answer the initial inquiry. Any attempts to naturally bridge the gaps of communication with upper management will be deflected or ignored. I personally asked for numerous meetings to be set up for this information to shared as a lower team lead but weekly meetings were never established by the supervisor despite acknowledging that the idea would be good for everyone. Education and training in respect to job responsibilities suffer as a result due to these communication flaws. The best response I received was “Nobody had to teach me these things when I had to learn them.” That should give insight to how conversations for education and additional training of DIRECT tasks given to you. A supervisor who is passing off his work to you is a direct resource to learn those tasks but you will not have that luxury here. Make no mistake, you will receive fault for everything that comes up that you should be able to handle. Education in regard to certification training will not be supported as you will be told directly to not focus on gathering skills to support you in the job. You will be expected to learn existing software in place. Ironic right? Your access to things that are needed in your job role will be stonewalled by the need to have specific certifications from Azure. Ironic right? I can confidently say that if you get the certification that you still won’t get the access and you will still be docked for it on your review saying you need improvement. There are numerous jerry rigs property wise by the System Admin that need to be reviewed. He simples goes out and band-aids his own errors and nobody is checking after him because he does everything and stonewalls the rest of the team lol. You can not trust your supervisor for a review of site work because the supervisor will ok it, then go for a site review and then admonish you for the work not being up to par when he ok’d the work before you left. Specifically video call reviews where they can clearly see any issues before leaving. You will get the excuse that it look differently on the call than in person. Not sure how that works because our network internet is fairly strong and a video call is literally looking at things real time but it shows that they didn’t care to pay attention but will gladly take the reason as to stonewall you from more work. The CIO isn’t really all there nor does he care. Hell I don’t even think he knows what his whole team can do because he pushes everything off and is not involved with managing the department. So that combination with a supervisor who only cares about himself is a recipe for disaster. No one in the department will be able to run anything if the supervisor decides to up and leave yet the CIO is under the assumption that the supervisor has trained the entire team to do his job in his absence. This is a big red flag because that guy has the keys to everything and is not sharing anything. All in all, this IT department sucks. Be on watch for the System admin as the guy that knows how to do your job better than you and is not willing to share information while looking for you run into an issue only he can resolve to make himself look pretty. I am much better and more stable position than with better overhead on management since separating with this department

Pros

ECI is a small family owned company which creates a more relax corporate environment , you create great bonds with your peers and the on-site teams, as well as you have the ability to communicate with the executive teams daily .we have company lunches at corporate often and celebrate everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries etc. , you more than likely will have your own office space

Cons

The expectation to display culture does not apply to upper management, on any given day you can expect to be yelled at and verbally abused due to the small company culture, there’s a lack of professionalism and respect . The company is pushing to grow the portfolio with the same number of staff, expect to be overworked and under paid, very big and complex portfolio due to lack of organization and training to onsite teams, there is no senior position and your title advancement is contingent on an unknown number of units in your portfolio . They do not care about there employees health. During the covid-19 pandemic the leasing staff continued to work onsite and they refuse to adapt to remote working even if you fall ill during a pandemic.Did not respond to anything on the BLM movement .

Pros

at first it was great....nice sense of family , team events, plenty of employees......but then, despite the success of the apartment industry and being told that the last few years were the best financially company wide- staff cuts were made, bonuses took a major plunge, budgets were unobtainable ....just cheap attitude overall.

Cons

1.Extremely micromanaged by irresponsible and unqualified RPMs 2.CHEAP 3.Managers have NO authority or ability to make decisions. We are told to tel residents and prospects "NO" over and over, but if they get a corporate employee on the phone - they fold immediately making them look like heroes and the property staff look like jerks. 4.Just because a property can be run with 2 office and 2 maintenance , doesn't mean it should be - properties are different and demands are higher on some due to product quality and location. Get a clue. 5. Hire Regionals that actually know what they are doing 6. Stop giving one person multiple titles and roles for the pay of one!!! Too many of your employees are on "the verge" of walking out because of this......
