Pros

Definitely a great way to build teaching experience in NYC.

Cons

Increasingly more and more unorganized. The leadership of the program is not only wildly inconsistent but inadequate. You are left alone with very little support. They are quick to reprimand you.

Pros

I’m at the schools: Anti-racist commitments, nice facilities, fun coworkers, salary scale is better than DoE, most importantly… amazing kids and families.

Cons

All the challenges of any public school. teaching is a grind. The schools go a little overboard with meetings but lesson planning is actually easier. There’s a lot of leadership transition at some schools too.
