Needs New Leadership!

Pros

The people who work in the field in entry-level positions are awesome. Employees come here to work with children and make a difference. The problem is that the leadership has no idea what they are doing, which only hurts the children.

Cons

The leadership in Clearwater is a joke. People who run non-profit organizations should not be making six figures! Youth counselors only make $20k a year and live out in the woods working 60+ hours a week. Members of the leadership team take home fat paychecks and have the option to work from home. How fair is that?

Pros

Get to make a difference in the lives of kids

Cons

High burn out. Getting passed by for promotion over and over despite 10 years experience and a Masters degree. Pay is very low for this type of work - other companies start at $10k more a year. Two co-workers have become homeless due to lack of pay since I started working here. Management undercuts the authority of the counselors in front of the youth.

Don't work here

Pros

The kids (which Eckerd is not even responsible for bringing in)

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. If I could give this place a 0, I absolutely would a million times. Eckerd is the perfect example of a "non-profit" (more like corporate) organization that completely fails the social work field and gives social work a bad rep. It is the most toxic work environment you will EVER work in and I'm not kidding when I say this place is the WORST. There are so many unethical things that happen every single day. Day, not year or month, but day. And guess who suffers? the kids. People that work here are literally here for a paycheck and it doesn't get better when you look at the higher ups, they're the worst. HR and management doesn't exist. You file a complaint, it goes into a dust drawer, literally nothing you say makes a difference. The few employees that genuinely care are completely burnt out and depressed and let go/forced out. This is the most hypocritical org I have ever worked in, the trainings go over everyone's head. I was constantly in trouble for being "too nice" with the kids. If you care at all for your sanity, don't even think of applying here. I wish someone had told me that before working here. Now I'm left with months of emotional struggling and burn out. This is also probably a quarter of all the stuff I want to say but can't because of a minimum character count.
