History Online Teacher

Pros

There were no teaching jobs in the small town that I live in. Elevate K-12 gave me an opportunity to work from home. I loved teaching here. The students were in the school in Texas when I was teaching them. The students had a desire to learn and know more and the company product and quality mechanisms are beyond what I have seen before.

Cons

Cancellation and no show policy is quite strict. Sometimes schools cancel sessions too but the company handled it quite well by keeping us informed and compensating us appropriately.

Satisfying Online Teaching Job

Pros

The students I’ve worked with are in the school and are those who need my teaching the most. It is very satisfying to be able the serve the low-income students who I teach. The whole process of joining online, having the content prepared by the company, and teaching online in my free time is very convenient plus I feel like I am giving back to the world in my own small way.

Cons

There are weeks where I don’t have sessions. If I could get more sessions I want to make this a full time job.

Mixed Messages and Hidden Meaning

Pros

I get to work a lot of extra hours beyond the normal 40-50 an employee should expect. This is rationalized in other reviews as needing to have more of a start up spirit. Not wanting this job to be your life means that you arent the right fit. Company is very small. a handful of local employees. Most are remote or part time or contract tutors

Cons

Lots offocus on moving fast and being willing to put in extra effort = strategy is second to making management happy. work life balance means always being available to work and balancing family second. Communication is often lacking. Priorities change on a whim. Questioning any direction even for clarification puts a target on your back. Company looks for you to use personal social media to promote company and increase awareness.
