Pros

RES has a great set of cultural values, espousing a people-first management style. As a private company, there is little danger of whimsical change due to investor pressure. Lots of amazing people work at RES, and they have continued to attract some more solid performers. There are programs for advancement, but I was never witness in my department or others of any explicit career pathing or progression plans. I recommend asking to see these early in your interviewing or employment. In the Americas, compensation is pretty good and the benfits packages are very good. Overall, RES could be a great place to work depending on how the current volatility shakes out and if the upper management will adhere to the purported culture that HR and the family owners claim RES is about.

Cons

Recent management changes have allowed some managers to not adhere to the stated management approach. Caveat emptor prospective and recently added employees. Though the owners continue to focus on the mission of the company, a rotating door of executive leadership over the past decade in the Americas has caused a lot of volatility in how the company is run and how it feels to work there. Also, the recent (summer 2024) pivot in the operating model to lines-of-business under globalized leadership again changes this paradigm leading to further uncertainty in the near term. While lots of amazing people work at RES, the company has yet to truly mature beyond the "startup" mode of relying on great individuals to do a good job. There are still too many spreadsheets and manually created and managed documents used to run the organization. The light at the end of this tunnel may be the new ERP solution recently implemented, if the operation and support of the system can be resolved (as both an employee and a manager, the launch was horrendous); then, the company will need to appropriately staff business analysts and system analysts to develop and implement processes in the platform (much of the problem with the launch stemmed from doing this poorly).

Pros

The salary and benefits were appealing to me.

Cons

Executive management seemed reptilian and apathetic. RES Services senior management did not acknowledge my existence or work product. I compare the job with RES Services to a rodeo bull ride. I tried to hang on as long as I could but the psychological pain was too extreme and eventually I got thrown off into the dirt.
