Pros

You get responsibility very early and you can grow and develop individually and professionally. I have been given many more opportunities to innovate and grow than my peers at other companies. You work with the best and brightest. Great campus and benefits. Great customers - work with prestigous and fun organizations. We do good work and you make a positive impact on healthcare everyday.

Cons

We've grown a lot over the past several years and so things are getting a bit cramped on campus (crowded cafeteria at noon, shared offices), but the benefits are we're a successful company. More vacation time would be great, especially for those that travel.

Pros

- great perks: casual dress code, fun campus environment/offices, food, sabbaticals, salary/bonuses - bright, helpful coworkers who want to do good. If you need someone's help, you knock on their door and ask for it regardless of who they are. - from very early on, you're given real responsibility and an ability to make an impact - if you're great at what you're doing now and you know what you want to do next, you'll get an opportunity to try it out - traveling around the country with a group of smart, fun coworkers - the opportunity to advise executives of multi-million dollar organizations is something I find extremely rewarding - each day is different and each problem is unique, so the job stays interesting

Cons

- there's a very steep learning curve early on - the hours you work depend on what needs to get done. At some points during a project, that can be a lot, and you need to be able to get it donw. - travel is really fun a lot of the time, but long stretches of travel can be tiring

Pros

Epic provides a great environment for someone right out of college. Lots of young people, casual work environment and Madison is a fun town. You're given lots of responsibility out of the gate and generally left to your own devices -- depending on your team lead. The work is interesting and sets you up for a great career someplace else.

Cons

The workload is demanding and generally inconsistent. The weeks range from 45 - 80 hours and you don't typically know the next month will look like. Travel time between buildings / campuses as well as travel to customer sites do not count toward your working hours. So, if you spend 7 hours flying out to California you still need to put in a full "day" of working time on top of that for the day. Feedback is inconsistent, at best. There is very little feedback given on a consistent basis and Epic fosters a culture where people do not given feedback directly. Instead, they hide behind a slew of tools and methods that put at least 1 (typically 2 or 3) people between the giver and receiver of the feedback. Feedback is generally negative since folks don't take (have?) the time to bother with positive feedback on their peers and team members. Judy made it clear that Implementation Services folks are not going to advance to senior levels in the company. A developer now runs the division and a trainer does the staff management. The company will always be development run, so that's something else to consider if you're looking fora long-term opportunity.
