Pros

Lots of pros about EverlyWell! There’s a real team camaraderie and excitement around the product and its mission. People here are passionate about helping people take control of their health and it does feel like a company that is actually making a difference. It’s a collaborative environment, with lots of joint work across different teams. Genuinely friendly place - in my first week people went out of the way to introduce themselves and there was an offsite happy hour event that almost everybody attended. The Leadership team are accessible. Julia Cheek (the CEO) sits with the team and has regular “office hours” where any employee can schedule time to chat with her. There’s a weekly company meeting where they give a full update on where the company is at and where it’s headed. They hired a new CTO who is a great leader and really well-liked. Nice office in the Seaholm Power Plant, free coffee, free La Croix, and snacks. Also free parking, unlimited PTO, good health insurance and they also let you do three free EverlyWell tests per year.

Cons

There’s been a lot of growth here but also a lot of turnover, which isn’t that uncommon in a start-up. But they’ve hired some great managers and it feels like everybody who is here now is in it for the long-run. It is definitely an all hands on deck environment, no matter what your level, so they do expect you to be at your desk - working from home isn’t common here. Compared to other companies that have a “come in whenever you want, work from home whenever you want”, EverlyWell feels more like a traditional 9 to 5 corporate company. But it’s definitely something they are aware of and they are transparent about it. They are trying to put better planning in place. People here work hard, but they enjoy the work and they get recognition when it’s due. So this is definitely not for someone who doesn’t take their work or career seriously, but it is the place for someone who wants to make an impact.

Pros

- The people are competent, diverse, and affable, which is a rare mix (especially in Austin). - Little-to-no drama in the workplace - Leadership team is extremely transparent with employees, on everything from finance to strategy. - Impressive benefits, including unlimited PTO for salaried employees and great paternity leave - Free and discounted tests - Unique office with free garage parking to Seaholm businesses such as Trader Joe’s - Free coffee, beer on tap, La Croix, and snacks - Literally changing lives with the products - Many ladies in leadership roles - Fairly flat - the CEO (Julia) mingles with everyone regardless of title, and when leadership isn’t busy, they’re easy to go talk to - Relaxed dress code

Cons

- The open office can be distracting - The pace and workload aren’t for everyone - HIPPA compliancy and FDA regulation can make ordinary things way more complicated - The competition is increasing quickly

Pros

- Free parking. - La Croix and Snacks. - Potentially good for entry-level employees -- e.g. first job out of college

Cons

- Very high employee turnover, especially considering such a small team. (12+ in less than a year) - CEO has openly stated that if 50% of hires work out that's considered success. - Inexperienced leadership across all departments. Several serve as director's over departments of which they lack any professional experience. - Extremely competitive space with new competitors emerging on a weekly basis. - Nothing proprietary about lab testing methodologies or the platform itself. - Below average salaries and equity.
