There are no words to describe how infuriating it is to hear/read higher-ups at this company consistently chalking up the insidious problems plaguing Exiger as "growing pains." The company is almost 5 years old at this point. Get a grip and start putting in the work to make it a better place before someone sues you because of your "growing pains."
I read these horrible Glassdoor reviews when I first got a job offer and I ignored them. I figured only the "extremes" of opinion would be represented, and I went on to work at Exiger for almost two years. Let me tell whoever is reading this that these reviews are accurate, and they are not the polar ends of the spectrum. They are representative of 9 out of 10 employees at this toxic company. Exiger employees come to Glassdoor to vent and warn future candidates because their concerns weren't listened to while they worked at Exiger.
I'll list a few experiences that I had during my time at Exiger, in hopes that they can discourage just one person from joining.
1.) lower-level employees created a group on Facebook to cyberbully coworkers. They got caught. HR did nothing, no one was fired or reprimanded. In fact, some of them were promoted or became performance managers. Your future boss who gets to decide the fate of your professional career? They might have been bullying people online like they're 13-year-olds just a few months ago. Exiger didn't care.
2.) someone posted on Glassdoor that they were sexually harassed by a higher-up. Exiger had the post deleted and said nothing to the office about it.
3.) people who had already purchased flights overseas for the holidays were denied their vacation time. People had to cancel flights and miss Christmas with their families, and Exiger did not refund their flights.
4.) almost every person in upper management in the Silver Spring office is male. Most of these fratty bros are incredibly sexist, heteronormative, exclusive, judgmental, weirdly micromanaging, and undermining. They gang up on people behind closed doors like puppeteers, manipulate systems to get their way and try to maintain control for no productive reason. There is no viable method in place to check their toxicity or mismanagement. The people who report directly to them have their hands tied most of the time, so they don't stick up for others out of genuine fear they will land on the bad side themselves.
5.) everyone I worked with was constantly overwhelmed with work to the point that they had to decide whether they would be the type of Exiger employee who works 70 hour weeks, or the type of employee who works 40 and whose work will therefore sometimes, unavoidably, be terrible. Usually people choose the latter, and then they got brought into after-action meetings to be talked down to by their peers who later gossip to everyone about how dumb they are for missing something in the report. The gross mismanagement of workloads/projects/schedules and the resulting embarrassment and emotional suffering is the worst part of working at Exiger. It turns hard-working, well-meaning people into defensive, nervous, skeptical people who don't trust their colleagues.
