Pros

Really enjoy my job helping customers. We are challenged to meet certain goals but they are achievable. Definitely not the easiest job I've had, but I feel I'm rewarded for the effort I put in. Company sponsors some fun events - Dragon Boat Race team, Weenie Mobile for lunch. Big Boss Joel speaks with us monthly about where we are and what we're doing, and he always is very positive about what we are doing. Seems like we are on the right track. Everyone always seems really supportive.

Cons

There is a lot of change here, mostly positive. Different kind of benefit plan than what I'm used to, but it seems to work out okay.

Pros

They did offer me a position when I needed one and was getting discouraged. In the beginning, management was very kind and supportive, and many of my coworkers were pleasant and a pleasure to work with. Certain ones were also very encouraging and reassuring in the beginning when you feel overwhelmed. Very educational in teaching me about an industry I originally knew nothing.

Cons

They pay rate is not nearly as much as it should be considering the work they expect of you, and the benefits and health insurance they offer are some of the worst I have ever had. Your work-life balance is non-existant. They expect your job to be your whole life. You easily get burnt out and frustrated to the point of having a nervous breakdown, and the higher ups couldn't care less. You go to them about your issues, and they imply that you are lying or that it is in your head, and everything is really fine. Furthermore, they also go out of your way to make you look unbalanced or incompetent at your job or in life. There is a lot of backstabbing and two-faced behavior. It's really sad when you go to work and feel like you need to be watching your back the same way you would in a slum. They work harder at denying you raises and promotions than they do at actually rewarding your work and loyalty with such. The last performance reviews virtually no one got a raise, and then pulled us into meetings saying our lack of raises was our fault. The customers are extremely uneducated and, frankly, stupid, about the industry, even though they own their own motor carrier businesses and should be more knowledgable. They break regulations or do not know policies after being in the business for 5,10, or 15 years and call in saying it's our fault. Higher ups pander to them in ways I've never seen (and I've worked customer service jobs before this). Many of the customers simply call in as a reflex, and if they simply read their mail or did a Google search, the call could have been avoided. They are trying to go green, but are so inept at using the computer systems that errors are constantly being made, and creating more phone calls. They are also known for not paying vendors as we constantly got calls from them angrily wondering why we weren't paying our bills. Customers even call sometimes because vendors refuse to service our clients until certain bills are taken care of. If you work in Customer Service, you will be required to do every department's job for them, making you wonder why they even have seperate departments. Never in my life have I worked a job like that. And for the record, most of the recent positive reviews sound very much like higher ups or "yes people" trying to make a job look better than it is. The bottom line: Avoid this job like the plague. People's behavior there borders on psychological torture.

Pros

Foley is a comfortable place to work. Good benefits, nice work environment and supportive management. Foley is continually evolving to compete with changes in the industry. This results in a competitive company with growth for employees like me. Foley tries to hire from within which make me feel confident that if I support Foley and work hard that there will be room for advancement.

Cons

There are a number of employees who don't appreciate what is available to them at Foley. There are employees (peers) who complain, sling mud at others and are not engaged in making Foley successful. These few tend to affect moral with their negativity. If you don't want to be on time, work hard and be engaged then Foley isn't the company for you. For the rest of us, who take pride in Foley and in what we do, Foley is a great place to work.
