Great for entry level, but very slim career growth

Pros

Good group of people to work with, very down to earth and relaxed. Hard work, but is off set with down time and great camaraderie. Management has open door policy, if you can think of a better or more efficient way of doing something they are always willing to listen, and help out.

Cons

Long hours, lots of travel. Work consists of long field work, and lab work. You may be out in the field for 10 hours and then are expected to come back to the office and do lab work for a few more hours. Training is poorly executed, mostly due to how busy the office is. It seems the company has grown but is lagging behind in hiring to keep the current employees from being over worked. Some Project managers are useless, and a lot of their responsibilities tend to fall on the field techs.

Pros

The pro is that you have a lot of time to yourself, if you enjoy that kind of thing. If you're a recent graduate, this is a good place to start if you have no other options.

Cons

The pay is unrealistic for the work performed. I was a field tech and that was quite the miserable experience for me personally. Being a field tech requires staying on the field all day until construction is complete for the day, regardless of the weather. It's very labor intensive and requires carrying a nuclear gauge around. The manager was very petty! Upper management is quite selfish and self-serving.
