Pros

-Very laid back, relaxed work atmosphere -Everyone I worked with was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had -Got the opportunity to learn different aspects of electrical distribution from generation, customer interaction and going out with the line crews

Cons

-Job was better suited for someone with an electrical engineering degree (I'm mechanical but I did learn a lot though)

Pros

The best reason to work for Georgia Power is that working for a public utility company which holds a monopoly in the marketplace always seems like a secure employment option.

Cons

Georgia Power takes full advantage of the state's high unemployment rate and sets unreachable goals, micro-manages to the extreme, uses up the employee in a high stress environment and then terminates the employee because there are always new prospects to take advantage of.
