Terrible Company

Pros

It used to be a faith based organization.

Cons

Over the last several years there has been a culture shift in this organization. It used to be a faith based organization. However, the organization is becoming increasingly secular (to appeal to a larger market). The last several years the company has posted operating losses ranging from 25-30 million a year. A 30 million dollar building was built at National Campus only to lay off 100 employees. Reports are internally that the building cost closer to 46 million. Poor leadership from Dave Horazdovsky and Bergan Peterson have destroyed this company. Do not work for this company. They do not make a profit and there is no room for growth. Benefits have declined over the years due to lack of revenue. Now pay will be tied to operating performance. You will not reach the mid-point in your position if the organization continues to perform poorly. No opportunity. GSS relies heavily on Medicaid and Medicare - with the cuts coming to these two payers it is unlikely this company will be able to survive.

Good Samaritan Response

For almost 95 years, the Good Samaritan Society has provided healthcare to those in need with a mission of upholding Christ’s values of love, compassion, and humility. We have faced many challenges as we’ve grown through these nine decades, and we know that as healthcare changes, we will face new ones. Additionally, as our workforce has grown to more than 21,000 employees, we understand that every employee experience will be unique. In Christ’s name, we lift up our staff across the nation, and commit each day to creating a workplace where everyone feels loved, valued and at peace. We appreciate your comments.

National Campus - a hard place to work

Pros

the benefits were pretty good as were the hours.

Cons

The people. I met a few really great people that I miss working with but, in general, the people at NC were awful. Here's a few examples: 1. It was a routine experience to get abuse from coworkers both at NC and from the centers, especially from people who were in higher management positions or had been there for years and were well connected. When I would report this to my supervisors, I was told that I had to accept it because that's just the way the person was even though I would get written up if I treated someone that way. 2. favoritism: its very obvious. I've watched unqualified people get promoted up simply because of who they knew only to have their job requirements restructured down to fit their ability.

Pros

Great people! Mission is wonderful.....if only leadership would follow it.

Cons

Not stable, Talks the talk with mission, but leaders don't walk the walk with it. Leadership is not in tune with the real world of long term care. Spent $30 million on upgrades to headquarters but can't find money to improve the buildings that provide care to our residents. Over 100 employees laid off due to poor oversight of finances and lack of accountability. Would not recommend!!
