Pros

Greene County pays your monthly premium for health insurance (including dental and vision) which equates to about $650/mo on top of your salary. People don't get furloughed or laid-off at the County, so working here during COVID is a relief. Great work/life balance!

Cons

Not the most competitive salaries. We have minimal 'fun' events with our team on the company's dime because we are tax payer funded.

Pros

Atmosphere, fellow co-workers, benefits, communication, work/life balance.

Cons

Pay and raises/promotions. My position is listed as "clerk," but should not as it requires a degree and pays only $11.87/hr. There are also no promotions or title changes. What you start working as is what you will be unless you apply for a different job.

Pros

The benefits are great. A Mercy health insurance plan is 100% paid for employee only coverage. There are 13 paid holidays. Employees take care of each other in times of need. There are some truly kind people in our work family!

Cons

Budgets are based on tax revenue so employees have to work with less. Working for the government is very different from the private sector. Citizens scrutinize the County and employees regularly. This is disheartening when you know how hard employees work every day. Pay is not comparable to the City or CU but you have to consider the numerous pros at the County!
