Definitely an old boys' network, very conservative, not open to doing things differently. Tend not to invest in technology or equipment to help staff do their best. Don't seem to get great projects or compete very successfully against nationally ranked firms. A lot of these guys, and they are mostly guys, have not worked any where else so they are pretty complacent and not interested in being better.

Where to begin? The company has been the go-to firm for HCA for years so the company isn't used to going out and getting work. They also aren't used to doing real "architecture" -- just doing the fix up/remodeling -get-it-done-as-cheaply-as-possible mode. This doesn't work well when they have to go out and compete against other firms for other projects. They are very set in their ways and not open to change -- or even trying to follow standard practices in the architecture field. They place people in roles they aren't qualified to do. Senior management tends to be very condescending. They have laid off a lot of senior level people in the last few years -- many of which were the people who were actually able to do the work. They tend to hang on to the people who are "yes" people.
