Work Somewhere Else

Pros

The pay was pretty good and my coworkers were amazing.

Cons

Management was horrible. Job roles were not clear and management had no idea what was going on a lot of the times. Clients would treat me poorly and scream at me. There were no benefits, I was scheduled for 10 hour days at times and expected to work through my lunches, or take lunches at my desk and still answer calls. I never got paid for the at home training I did and was never allowed to use my sick time I accrued. I was promised a pay increase after one month of employment but that never happened, and I suspect that was something they said just to convince me to work there.

Pros

This company provides good education for people interested in becoming tax preparers.

Cons

The amount of pay does not justify the hours and tons of training required for hire for their offices.

Pros

-Good flexibility in hours -Good with letting me work from home when ill -I enjoy the work I do -Stimulating work without being so difficult it is miserable

Cons

-Some of the management has issues in playing favorites, and they have an issue overlooking ---Asian-American racism -Their training program leaves a bit to be desired, as if you don't come in already having tax knowledge, many new employees flounder (I spent a lot of my time mentoring new employees who ended up struggling with things that they just were not taught in training that they should have been)

Pros

1 - At first co-workers were great until the India invasion. 2 - Some of the bonuses were really good. I don't think they have the same bonus plans today. 3 - The time off allowed after tax season was great. 4 - The training was great.

Cons

1 - They used to have a great team of developers until they started hiring programmers from India who were IMHO incompetent and hard to understand. They should have never started to hire H-1B visa employees just to save money, it is costing them more in the long run. 2 - At the end of each tax season everyone would take a well-deserved break, the problem is that break lasted for months, and it took way too long for business owners to come up with the next years requirements leading to last minute changes that lead to very late nights and long hours unnecessarily. 3 - In order to get a decent raise, you had to find another job and quit, then you would get a counteroffer.

Pros

Further training opportunities, well-known name, wide demographic range of clients.

Cons

Too much in-person tax prep, hour allotments for all appointments, regardless of complexity of a client's tax situation, poor tax production software (buggy), poor scheduling software, I also have never had such aggravation with the FRICTION the software/AI is causing here. It is impeding our work and angering clients. It can be hard to look up and find how to fix. Now, we have to report things to some tech support team half across the globe? That hopefully addresses it before our deadlines. But it usually gets added to its endless list of "known issues". I actually did a couple of state returns BY HAND, completely bypassing the software. Ugh.
