Pros

Challenging environment, good tax software, pretty good training resources although H&R Block no longer allows employees to have text books. Clients are usually appreciative but give negative reviews because of the prices.

Cons

Pressure to sell unnecessary products which affect your commission, unpredictable hours. High expectations from management to be small business certified and no extra compensation for this certification.

They can do better

Pros

They provide lots of trainings

Cons

The training materials are not accessible once you finished the CE or advancement classes. No training materials to use to review for the test. Pay is low Hard to reach out to the management, they hardly answer their emails or phone calls if you have any questions. It's like you're on your own Very confusing platform and no one cares to explain them to you, it's like a maze. They get bonus/incentives when you prepare more returns for a small amount of money, so other associates grab all clients they can with the possibility of taking your own clients. And if you're not the favorite of the manager or the receptionist, they will not assign you the clients.

Pros

This can be a good option for those who has no or little experience and are willing to take classes or training about taxes. The time is very flexible, office/district managers may let you pick the time frame that fits for schedule. Co-workers are friendly and supportive and help newbies.

Cons

- Low pay: First year tax pros may get only minimum wages, no commision in the first year at H&R Block - Commission starts in the 2nd year working for H&R Block but you have to keep your work very productive to get the commision. - Stressful: Some clients are rude and have no patience.
