Pros

Great place to work if seasonal is your preference. 10hr work day but it didn't seem like it when working with the right people.

Cons

less online training and more relisted in-person training. Our online training was nothing compared to the job day to day.

Pros

Annual training and upkeep is not only supported but is required. Flexible schedules to suit your life/needs. Plenty of downtime in the summer/fall.

Cons

Long hours with a very fast paced environment during tax time, work-life balance definitely gets skewed for a time. The financial reward is worth it though.

Pros

Nice coworkers, good training, environment always keeps you on your feet

Cons

Management sometimes overbearing re: goals. Work/life balance is not always easy especially during peak, will need to understand you may need to put more hours in as the season reaches peak. Lots of room to grow.

Pros

Online education Co-workers Training opportunities

Cons

This is actually a commission-based job. At the end of the season, based on one's level (test based, or EA, attorney, or CPA), your compensation is calculated based on your returns & add-on products, and your hourly rate (very low) is subtracted. If you've made more than you're hourly rate, you get paid that amount. There's a shortage of experienced preparers in the Boston area. As a result, there are very inexperienced associates hired. This leads to mistakes in returns, and added pressure on experienced preparers to support newbies (without compensation). Also - tax pros are expected to clean the offices and bathrooms!
