Pros

Salary (tips positions only) : money is pretty decent if you're working in a tipped position at a high voulme unit. Hours are reasonable.

Cons

Management doesn't care about their employees. You're sick? Have finals in school? Family emergency? Sorry, but you're still going to be working. Communication is non-existent. You'll be lucky to get any form of communication from upper management about why new changes are being made. You'll usually find out about a change, when a supervisor shows up one day to tell you that you're doing something wrong. No training or room for growth. There's no formal training in place for associates to grow or learn new skills. The company just wants people that will show up and go through the motions day in and day out. No trust in employees. The company basically treats it's employees as though everyone is a thief

Pros

Free Lunch (That's only IF a manager gives you the OK to take that 30 minute break the company claims we're entitled to daily) which is rare. Getting to stand up all day, who doesn't love that? Healthcare benefits, apparently.

Cons

No breaks, on average it's busy about 70% of the time Overworked Register systems are beyond out of date Broken machinery and equipment

Pros

From least importance to high importance: Comped Lunch Steady Hours (w/ overtime if location is hectic) Acquire Versatile Skills Interesting People Outstanding Orientation Professional and Competent Upper & Middle MGMT Supportive Human Resources Diversified Employment EOE

Cons

From least importance to high importance: Lack of Corporate Culture and Goodwill Union Dues (unnecessary expediency) Unreliable gratuities policies. Starting Pay rate is minimum and is not DOE Grumpy Patrons Inadequate Incentives Faceless corporate At Will Employment Lack of Cohesion Among Coworkers A sense that I could be replaced or my position could be deemed 'unnecessary' with a layoff by the end of the season Insufficient training WorkPlace Bullying: supervisor (maybe he had problems he couldn't leave at the door) because he had more seniority and was recently promoted I was seen as more expendable. Fair and Ethical treatment went totally down the drain with this super. He should be expected to set a positive example for his subordinates. Leopards never change their spots. As a steadfast employee, there were not enough benefits for my retention; the unsavory behavior incited from the super encouraged my resignation.
