Great place to work

Pros

I have worked for HomeServe for 8 years now so I have been through the good and the bad. I have seen the company change dramatically over the past few years and I can honestly say now I am proud to tell people where I work. I have never known a company put their customers first the way HomeServe does while at the same time wanting to look after their employees and make it a good place to work. The benefits you get are second to none. You get a real feeling of being part of a family working at HomeServe and I would not hesitate recommending the company to anyone.

Pros

Professionally, it's a great business to develop and progress. I can see that already. Ethically I wanted a fit with a company and this certainly delivers. I was impressed to hear about schemes like gaining an extra 'charity' day to your holiday allocation, where you sacrifice your salary for a day, but the money goes to charity. I'm impressed by the company customer charter promises, where we absolutely do right by the customer, helping pensioners struggling with boiler problems, for example, makes you feel proud to part of something like that as well as supporting the Midland Langar Seva Society, providing food for the homeless. But joining a business like this is the closest I've found to working at TNT, where it's a close family, where the culture is around people development and 'home grown timber'.

Cons

It's grown quickly and there are a lot of people here. It's continually expanding and therefore a very busy place to work and continuously changing business to learn. I personally like that. Some may not. There needs to be the facility and culture for working from home when possible. When I've been here for a time I will see if that is supported, but I believe it is accepted and colleagues around me seem to work flexibly and professionally to get the job done.

Pros

I've been with the business for just over a year. I joined because I knew the majority of the leadership team and had worked with them before at a previous company. We had a great way of working before at the previous company and plenty of success. Are we trying to replicate what we had before? No, we are taking the best bits, adding new elements and combining them with the People who have been there for a long time and know HomeServe best. We are building a special company. A company that understand People no longer buy products and services, they buy relationships, stories and magic.

Cons

We're not perfect, there's plenty still to do and this year will be one with a lot of change. The culture is great but I worry that if we lost a couple of key senior people there would be the potential to slip back into old ways.
