Spent a fortune on a new POOR system that does not optimise but engineers did not even get a pay rise despite workloads and work areas increasing!!, No trust, Very poor work life balance, Them and us culture, Poor pay structure, Poor senior management. No progression prospects.

Hi, thank you for your review. We know we’ve had problems rolling out our new despatch system but I’m confident that we have solutions in sight to the majority of the issues we have seen. I’m very grateful to all the team for helping us through the issues that will deliver a super system going forward. On the pay issue you mention, we implemented a Fair Pay scheme that gave big pay rises to many gas engineers who came over to Home Serve on TUPE from low paying companies. We were never going to be able to afford to put everyone onto the very highest rates that some firms paid, but equally we didn’t want to cut anyone’s pay. That was a red line and it’s the right thing to do. Therefore everyone here now earns at least the right salary for the job. Some earn a bit more than that because of historic reasons and I’m happy that’s the right way to go. Always happy to discuss on an individual basis any time you like. Martin

I'm guessing from your review that you are one of our People leaving from Banbury. I know you guys have had a tough time and I know leaving a company isn't easy but I've also been really impressed with the work you have put in and the level of service you have maintained for our Customers over the last few months. That's meant a lot to me. I'm glad also you worked with a great team and manager but I am sorry you feel you would have preferred a different CEO than me. I do my best and so does my team, and believe me, we all work pretty hard. I wish you luck wherever you are going. Greg. UK CEO

Pros

You get a stocked van, paid a wage and meet a few good people. That's pretty much it. Fuel card.

Cons

Spent 8 months with Homeserve. Previous company was bought out by them. Right from the off we were lied to about what was going to happen when we were taken over. We were told they had no intention of changing our current contracts when we TUPE’d across but within a few months a new contract was put in front of us and given the ultimatum... Sign or leave. It's not a bad thing seeing as their compliance side leaves a little to be desired. From covering up poor workmanship to failing to report dangerous situations, Homeserve have it all. I wouldn't trust a Homerserve engineer in my house doing any type of work. The office stack you up with work and the job times are too short the amount of checks that are required. Customers are subsequently let down every day because of this.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. We’re disappointed to read your 'cons' of working for HomeServe. The Fair Pay project you refer to was undertaken in order to make pay fair for everyone by having a system and process that is clear, transparent and equitable and one that allows all employees to understand where they are in the business and where they are going in their own career. We consulted with 3,004 of our colleagues (Engineers, Frontline and Support) on the Fair Pay project and we are really proud of the fact that to-date 95% have accepted the new terms and conditions. I can also assure you that the safety of our Customers and our People, in the field or on our sites, is absolutely paramount to us and suggesting otherwise isn’t true. We are never complacent about safety, the foundation of our business is built on Customers feeling safe. We are extremely proud of our Engineers and the exceptionally good Gas Safe Audit score that we have achieved. Anyway, looks like leaving HomeServe was the right thing for you. Good luck with all your future endeavours.
