Cons

When I was hired I loved this company. It seriously was like a dream. People were supportive, eager to try new ideas, and so very welcoming. They fully embraced the company core values and it was one big family. We were doing great work and meeting our goals. They would send us random gifts like gift cards, snack boxes, one day coffee and my favorite snack showed up at my door courtesy of my boss. They took every worker and their family on beach weekend. It was amazing. Then there was an upper management upheaval in early 2025. Several managers were laid off, one quit, and then larger layoffs started happening. Suddenly, no one felt safe or steady. The original core values seem to have disappeared entirely from the lexicon (when were they removed from the website??) to be replaced by radical candor, which seems to be some kind of humiliation tactic. Oh and the consultants. So.many.consultants. We all should have known we were in trouble when the agile consultants couldn't even explain how this process would be implemented. They answered every question with, "Let me ask you this, why are you doing that?" Because it's literally my job? The culture that was once so welcoming has turned completely fear-based. People who once loved their jobs are now just trying to make it to the end of the day. It's incredibly sad. So many really talented people were let go with little to no reasoning behind it. The Jackrabbit I was hired at embraced change. The general feeling was, "Let's try it and see!" People were excited to do new things. So I really question the motives of someone claiming that employee dissatisfaction is tied to the new company focus on agility and performance. It also speaks to the larger issue of employee/management relations that instead of looking at their own behavior and how it is affecting the employees, that they turn it around on the employees alleged unwillingness to change. This used to be an amazing place to work and it's truly shocking how in such a short period of time it's become unraveled.

We know that people experience change differently. Some find it energizing, while others may feel discouraged, and often both perspectives exist at the same time. At Jackrabbit, our focus is on building a sustainable, thriving company that serves clients with excellence. Success can’t be measured only by how things feel internally, but also by how well we deliver results for our clients, meet external benchmarks, and position the business for long-term health. Metrics such as customer satisfaction, retention, growth, and innovation guide our decisions to ensure our work benefits both employees and clients, today and in the future. We recognize that parts of this journey have been difficult. That’s why we are committed to a culture where feedback is heard and delivered with kindness and clarity (as encouraged by Radical Candor), where employees are respected as thoughtful contributors, and where our success is shared, through both the well-being of our teams and the impact we create for the customers who rely on us. Also, the Values have been added back to the website. This change must have happened quite a while ago, as no one in Marketing recalls it being removed. That said, the team is glad to see they’ve been restored. https://jackrabbittech.com/about/ Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We wish you the very best in your career ahead.

Pros

When I joined Jackrabbit, it was a genuinely great place to work. The company not only promoted strong core values (We Own It, We Connect with Others, We Foster a Drama-Free Environment, We Are Courageously Outspoken, and We Look for the Win-Win) but truly lived by them. These values weren’t just words: they were part of our daily conversations, performance reviews, and even printed on our laptops. The culture felt collaborative, mission-driven, and supportive. Leadership recognized hard work, and employees felt like active contributors to the company’s success. Unfortunately, that began to shift in late 2024. Communication from leadership became increasingly vague. At the annual meeting, we were told that while customer losses had outpaced gains, our performance was so strong that we'd still meet ambitious new sales goals. The message felt contradictory- simultaneously optimistic and unsettling. Quarterly earnings calls were replaced with town halls, but transparency decreased. Leadership fielded tough questions with polished, non-committal answers. Quiet layoffs began, followed by high-profile positions eliminated and abrupt organizational changes. Teams were shuffled, titles changed, and strategic direction felt chaotic. Despite the emphasis on being “courageously outspoken,” asking direct questions got you corporate speak in return. The culture that once energized employees turned into an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear. Major shifts were rolled out with minimal communication. At one point, I wasn’t even sure who I reported to. The disconnect between upper management and the values they expected employees to uphold became stark. I imagine the company will respond to feedback by claiming a new focus on innovation, transparency, and a fast-paced culture. But the truth is, Jackrabbit already had all those qualities, and that’s why people loved working there. What’s missing now is trust and clarity from leadership.

Cons

The best part of working at Jackrabbit was that we were seen as people—individuals with voices, ideas, and value—not just faces on a Zoom call or rows on a spreadsheet. In my final days there, it became painfully clear that this was no longer the case. The empathy and humanity that once made Jackrabbit special have been replaced by ambiguity and indifference. I truly hope leadership finds their way back—because without that core, it’s just another tech company with a mission statement no one believes in.

We also hear your concerns about communication and change. We know reorganizations and new ways of working can feel disruptive, and that the shift away from a more traditional top down leadership structure has been difficult for some. These changes are not about abandoning our values but about adapting to what it takes to thrive as an innovative software company in a competitive market. Innovation requires all of us, across every role, to think deeply, contribute ideas, and engage at a high level. The best solutions don’t come from top-down decisions alone, but from collaboration, debate, and shared ownership. We understand this kind of environment isn’t for everyone, but we believe it’s how the most impactful and creative outcomes are achieved for our customers. Our focus is on building clarity, trust, and momentum as we grow, while holding tight to the core values that made Jackrabbit strong in the first place. Feedback like yours helps us reflect on how we balance honoring our roots with pushing forward into a future where we can make an even greater impact.
