Pros

Discount, co-workers, ability to be promoted based on merit.

Cons

Store managers are offered anywhere from $150- $300 as there weekly base pay, plus commission, and a percentage of the stores sales. Which means if you sell nothing for a week to only made your base pay ex. $200. You are also required to work 45 hours a week but in all actuality it's closer to 60 if you have other managers in your store but if it's just you then you are working 80 hours a week. They work you to the bone. There is no life outside of Journeys. No time for friends and no time for family. I see all of the reviews on here about how it's fun and if you don't think so then it's not for you. That right there is current DM'so and people that want to get promoted trying to save face. This company will suck you dry. I have seen it happen to a ton of employees. Some it just takes longer for it to hit them. The turn over rate for managers is rediculous. The district I was in saw 21 managers leave (that i know of) in the year and a half that I was there...21!

Pros

Fine as a part-timer while I was in high school. There was a good discount which was great considering our shoes are overpriced anyways.

Cons

I worked as a co-manager after being promoted from part time. I never worked less than 60 hrs a week no lunch breaks never more than one day off a week. Most of the time I was the only one working in the store. My checks added up to less than minimum wage and I am assuming that the CEO must not be aware of the fair labor act and that my job description wasn't aligned with being exempt from overtime nor did I meet any requirements to be exempt from overtime. So if you would like to have your life dedicated to journeys and barely be able to afford to eat while your at work all week than this is the place for you. Also it's a great place if you like to be sexually harassed by creepy managers.
