Pros

• Build product that will define the future of industrial process control • Work with Fortune 500 clients under enterprise-level deals • Collaborate with intensely smart engineers, designers, and managers who are eager to solve tough problems quickly • Gain exposure to cutting edge hardware, software, and data science technology • Earn responsibility in a best-idea-wins system, where hard work and creativity are rewarded regardless of the person who contributes them • Get experience with a high-growth startup • Contribute to a product that makes measurable reductions to methane emissions in natural gas production

Cons

• Growing from a small, flat team of <25 employees to 100+ involves organizational changes and compromises that not all veterans are ready to afford • High-demand customers and liberal sales practices mean company priorities can change faster than the team can deliver

Great opportunity with great people

Pros

Creating a new class of product with the state of art in hardware, software, data science and design for an industry plagued with outdated technology is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Increase output and measurably reduce contributions to climate change from emissions related to oil and gas production gives work meaning. Working with offices in San Francisco, Portugal, and Australia gives the Louisville team a global reach; a novel situation for some of us. Modern, professional and spacious office in Louisville with tons of conveniences within walking distance. Working with fun, talented and sometimes quirky people. Regular meetings with managers mean path corrections are communicated quickly and feedback is frequent.

Cons

It can take time and deliberate effort to change personal habits from traditional waterfall to agile/iterative hardware development cycle. It can be emotionally taxing to trust decisions that prioritize a short term deliverable over the straightest path to optimal long term solutions.

Engaging Work on Challenging Problems

Pros

Kelvin is doing some really unique and exciting stuff in some very stodgy industries and driving real change and impact. It's a great place to work if you want to bring cutting edge tech to address problems in the real world. Awesome team. People you actually like working with. Great customer relationships that enable us to experiment and build amazing solutions. Supportive management that actually cares (doesn't just say they care). There are a number of times I've seen leadership go above and beyond to help folks on the team with both professional and personal struggles. Management is also responsive to feedback. Not everything is perfect, but there is a real willingness to engage and fix stuff.

Cons

The company is in an awkward phase right now as it goes from an early stage MVP to more robust and scalable product. It can be really intense and stressful at times trying to understand where your work fits in the big picture when the big picture is still coming together. Rapid growth has led to some culture shock. The culture that may have been effortless when the shop was small takes concerted effort when the business grows. With all the other things going on, sometimes this gets lost. The company has outgrown the current office space, making it a tough place to get stuff done at times.
